Chapter 25 What Do You Want with My Wife?

Yvette felt a bit awkward being questioned by Wyatt. She was married, but it wasn't a stable, long-term relationship.

While she was thinking about how to respond, Sylvia came out.

"Yvette, come back in, Mr. Hughes is calling you," she said.

Yvette felt like she was saved, apologized to Wyatt with a smile, and said, "Let's go inside. Everyone is waiting."

Back in the private room, Sylvia quietly sent Yvette a message.

Sylvia: [Ahhh, what were you doing outside? You can't capture the hearts of all the handsome guys!]

Yvette: [Stop joking.]

Sylvia continued typing with her head down.

Sylvia: [Does he like you? As soon as you went out, he followed.]

Yvette thought about what Wyatt had said earlier and blushed a little.

Yvette: [Stop talking nonsense.]

Sylvia: [So what did he talk to you about?]

Yvette frowned and replied to her message.

Yvette: [Advancements in surgical techniques.]

Sylvia: [How boring.]

After reading Sylvia's exasperated reply, Yvette locked her phone screen. She looked up and sneaked a glance at Wyatt beside her.

He was chatting with a female colleague from the Center, neither too warmly nor too coldly. He ate elegantly with the fork in his hand. Sensing something, he suddenly looked at Yvette.
Seeing Yvette looking at him, he smiled.

Yvette felt a bit embarrassed and avoided his gaze. She picked up some food with her fork and slowly chewed it.

A waiter came in and served a dish, which was Yvette's favorite tomato bisque. It was a specialty from Yvette's hometown, containing salted pork and early spring wild vegetables.

Many people couldn't get used to it, thinking the wild vegetables had too strong a flavor, but those who loved it were very fond of it.

As soon as the dish was served, it filled the room with its aroma, making Yvette crave it. Wyatt, sitting next to her, was chatting with a leader named David about the latest air medical incidents.

Since neither of them ate the soup, everyone else felt too embarrassed to eat it. The tomato bisque was placed far away, and Yvette could only bite her fork longingly.

At that moment, a hand waved and called the waiter. Soon, the waiter placed the tomato bisque in front of Yvette. The hand then stopped.

Yvette was very happy, thinking Wyatt had the same taste as her. She waited for him to serve himself so she could serve herself afterward. After waiting for a while, Wyatt didn't move.

Yvette glanced at the tomato bisque and pouted.

David was very excited, talking animatedly, when Wyatt suddenly turned his head and gently said to Yvette, "Why aren't you eating? I remember you love tomato bisque."

Yvette was stunned.

He continued, "Shall I serve you?"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone at the table looked up and stared at the two of them.

The probing and ambiguous looks from everyone made Yvette extremely embarrassed.

It was David who first caught on and immediately quipped, "Mr. Randel, you haven't even worked here yet, and you're already going after the doctors at our esteemed Center?"

Mr. Hughes chuckled, "They are former classmates; Mr. Randel is even closer to Yvette than we are."

Yvette looked at Wyatt, not understanding what he meant by his actions. She took a deep breath, ready to speak, but was interrupted by Wyatt.

"When our class went to the countryside, a restaurant had this tomato bisque. She ate half a pot by herself, and since then, everyone knew she loved tomato bisque." Wyatt explained as he tugged at his shirt collar, slowly raised his head, and smiled at them.

Someone remarked, "Surprisingly, Yvette eats very little on a regular basis."

Wyatt replied, "Really? Then she has changed a lot."

Yvette was speechless.

Everyone was led away by his topic, no longer focusing on Yvette. She breathed a sigh of relief but was also a bit puzzled.

'What exactly does this man want?' she thought.

The reception finally ended, and Yvette, who had been feeling very annoyed, was finally relieved. David and Wyatt were still greeting each other at the door while Yvette had already taken out her phone to call a car.

David patted Wyatt's shoulder and kindly asked, "Did you drive here yourself? If not, you can ride with us."

"I drove myself," Wyatt said.

David said, "That's great. Several young ladies from the Center didn't drive. Let's each take a few female doctors home."

Wyatt smiled and volunteered, "Then I'll take Yvette."

Hearing this, everyone immediately looked at them with ambiguous eyes.

Yvette, afraid everyone would make a fuss, quickly waved her hand and said, "No need. I was about to call a car."

David said, "Yvette, just go with Mr. Randel. You live so far away, taking a cab would be expensive. It's great to have someone give you a ride!"

Since David had said so, Yvette felt that refusing again would seem deliberate and pretentious. She could only stiffly press her lips together and say, "Then I'll trouble you, Wyatt."

Wyatt's car was parked in a different lot from everyone else's. After saying goodbye to everyone, Yvette quietly followed Wyatt. Once they were far enough away that no acquaintances were around, she stopped.

Wyatt heard her footsteps stop and turned back to ask, "What's wrong?"

Yvette, holding back her anger and feeling a bit nervous, didn't want to ruin the superficial peace with Wyatt, especially since they would be working together for the next month.

He was subtly flirting with her, and if she overreacted, it would make her seem overly sensitive.

Yvette frowned, looking troubled, and said, "For the next month, I hope we can interact normally. My colleagues are quite serious and don't understand your jokes. If you say too much, they might take it seriously and think we're a couple."

Wyatt looked down at her, smiled, and said, "Do you remember? Back in school, you were always in my group. Throughout college, I never had another girl in my group except you."

Yvette hadn't noticed these things and didn't understand why he suddenly brought it up. She replied, "Really? I don't remember."

"Do you know why I allowed a girl in my group?" He smiled, and confessed, "Yvette, you're the only woman I've ever liked."

Yvette was stunned by his sudden confession and said, "...We haven't seen each other for many years. It is too sudden. I'm sorry, I don't have those feelings for you."

Wyatt seemed indifferent to Yvette's rejection as if he didn't care at all.

He declared, "If I decide to be with you, you won't be able to refuse in the end because I don't allow regrets in my life."

His tone was calm, but his words were so domineering that they made people frown.

Yvette said unhappily, "Actually, I'm already married. I just haven't told David yet."

Wyatt informed, "I know."

He raised an eyebrow and suddenly grabbed Yvette's hand forcefully, shaking it in front of her eyes. "No ring, you think you can fool me?" Wyatt pointed out.

With a strong pull, he easily brought her close to him. Yvette struggled but couldn't break free, feeling a bit anxious.

Yvette was about to explain, and said, "Wyatt..."

A voice demanded, "Let her go."

Someone interrupted Yvette and Wyatt from behind.

Yvette instinctively turned around. The newcomer was tall and strong, with a straight waist. He walked over in big strides and directly pulled her into his arms.

Unprepared, she fell into his embrace and instinctively looked up, seeing his handsome face.

Coldly and threateningly, Albert said, "Sir, what do you want with my wife?"
