Chapter 399 Mrs. Valdemar, Mr. Valdemar is Back
Today's social engagement, as expected, yielded no results.
Albert stood up to leave the private room, but as he reached the door, his tall figure swayed slightly.
Alfonso immediately supported Albert. "Are you okay, Mr. Valdemar?"
"Yeah." Albert frowned slightly.
He always knew his alcohol tolerance, and this shouldn't have been enough to get him drunk.
Alfonso said, "It seems my wine has quite a kick."
There was an inexplicable excitement in Alfonso's voice, but upon closer listening, it seemed almost indistinct.
The private room door opened, and a group of waiters came in to assist Albert.
Alfonso patted Albert on the shoulder. "Mr. Valdemar, I wouldn't feel comfortable letting you leave in this state. Why not rest here for the night? I've prepared a luxury suite upstairs for you."
Without waiting for Albert's response, Alfonso waved to the waiters, who immediately helped Albert out.
Alfonso returned to the sofa in the private room and called back the women. Embracing them on both sides, he wore a lecherous smile.
Before long, there was a knock on the private room door.
A woman took the cigar from Alfonso's lips, and Alfonso said, "Come in."
The waiter who had just helped Albert walked in. "Mr. Carr, he has been taken upstairs."
Alfonso asked, "Is he in the right state?"
The waiter answered, "Yes, the drug seems to have taken effect."
Alfonso was extremely pleased. "I've always heard that Albert is cautious and never smokes outside. Perfect, I spiked the wine, and the antidote is in the cigar. If he doesn't smoke, he can just wait for the aphrodisiac to kick in!"
Saying this, Alfonso excitedly kissed the woman next to him.
Suddenly remembering something, he looked up and asked, "What about the person I arranged for him? Have they gone up?"
It was the most seductive and skilled woman he had arranged. He didn't believe Albert could resist!
The waiter replied, "She's gone up."
Alfonso snapped his fingers.
It was late at night.
Yvette had put the two children to sleep and lay on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Albert hadn't come back all night, clearly wanting to cut off all contact with her, leaving her no chance to ask for his help.
Albert wanted to keep her locked up.
Thinking of this, Yvette's nose tingled slightly.
In her sleep, CiCi seemed to sense Yvette's sadness, moved closer, and snuggled into Yvette's arms, rubbing her chest with her soft little face.
This affectionate gesture, like a comforting touch, greatly soothed Yvette's wounded heart.
She lowered her head and kissed the sleeping faces of her two children.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Yvette frowned, displeased that someone was disturbing the children's sleep. "Who is it?"
A servant's voice came from outside. "Mrs. Valdemar, Mr. Valdemar is back."
Cold water fell from the showerhead, the sound of rushing water bombarding Albert's thoughts.
Despite taking the antidote, the drug's effects kept surging, giving Albert no chance to resist.
The phone rang, and Albert answered it. Vincent's voice came through the bathroom speaker. "Mr. Valdemar, Alfonso has been dealt with. He got what he deserved, and our people have captured the evidence."
Cold water poured over Albert, but it did nothing to cool his burning body. Hearing Vincent's words, his Adam's apple moved slightly in relief. He had anticipated Alfonso's backup plan and stationed people on standby.
As soon as he realized he had been drugged, Albert immediately signaled his people, who took down Alfonso's men and took Albert away without disturbing the scene.
When Alfonso came up to "inspect the results," he was naturally caught in his own trap, ensnared by the people and room he had arranged.
Albert let out a cold laugh. "Follow up on the rest and take care of him."
As soon as Albert spoke, he realized his voice was terribly hoarse.
He cursed under his breath; Alfonso had indeed been ruthless, giving him such a high dose of the drug.
"Yes, Mr. Valdemar." Vincent hesitated, "Didn't Dr. Cunningham's antidote work?"
Albert answered, "It did, but the drug dose was too high, the antidote was ineffective."
Vincent gasped. "If there's any residue of the drug, it could be extremely harmful to your body!"
Albert knew this all too well.
He took a gulp of cold water, not caring if it was clean. But the water had almost no effect on his burning body.
"Alright, you continue handling things, don't worry about me." With that, Albert hung up.
He didn't know how long he had been in the shower, but the boiling in his blood gradually subsided.
He knew this wasn't a solution, so he wrapped himself in a bathrobe and walked out of the bathroom.
As soon as he stepped out, he was surprised to see Yvette sitting on the sofa, seemingly waiting for him.
Albert paused, hesitant to move forward.
He still had the aphrodisiac in his system, and the drug could make him lose control of his body at any moment.
Feeling Albert's intense gaze, Yvette slowly turned around.
Their eyes met, and Yvette was momentarily stunned by the heat in his gaze.
Albert turned his head away, avoiding Yvette's eyes. He poured himself a glass of cold water and drank it in one gulp.
Yvette watched Albert's evasive figure. As they passed each other, Albert acted as if he didn't see her and turned into the room.
Yvette was taken aback, following closely behind Albert, but was stopped at the door.
She reached out to open the door, but it was already locked from the inside by Albert.
Yvette's heart grew cold; it seemed Albert was determined to keep her confined.
Yvette panicked, raising her hand to knock on the door. "Open the door, Albert!"
From the other side of the door, Albert's hoarse voice came. "What is it?"
"Let me in, I need to talk to you." Yvette's nose tingled, a sense of fear growing in her heart. She had to get in and talk to Albert.
A suffocating silence followed, making Yvette even more anxious.
Her stubbornness was useless at this moment; she had no means to fight Albert. So if she wanted to lift Albert's confinement, to have the freedom to take her children out, she had to beg him.
Even if it meant losing her dignity, she didn't want her children to have a mother who was locked up at home!
Desperately, Yvette knocked on the door. "Albert, open the door..."
Suddenly, the door was pulled open, and a red-eyed Albert, slightly hunched, appeared in Yvette's view.
"You want to come in?" Albert's voice was filled with restrained desire.
Yvette instinctively nodded, seeing a familiar glint in his bloodshot eyes.
Albert's warm palm pressed against Yvette's wrist, giving her no chance to resist, and he pulled her in forcefully. "Then don't regret it."
