Chapter 394 Mrs. Valdemar is now seeing an "old friend"
In the sky, sunlight filtered through the clouds, casting a golden hue on the road.
It was rush hour, and the street was particularly busy.
Under the sunlight, the drivers seemed a bit irritable, with new vehicles constantly joining the long queue, and the honking of horns was incessant.
BoBo and CiCi had just finished school, wearing light yellow uniforms and carrying small backpacks, looking very cute.
Outside the window, a long line of brake lights caught CiCi's attention, while BoBo turned to look at Yvette.
BoBo asked, "Mommy, where are we going? Isn't the driver picking us up? Are we not going home?"
"Yes." Yvette nodded, impressed by BoBo's observation skills. "We have some errands to run, and it's not convenient for the driver to take us."
CiCi finally tore her gaze away from the row of red lights. "Why is it not convenient? Does the driver not like taking us to other places?"
Yvette thought of the person they were about to meet and sighed softly. "We'll take the car ourselves, so we don't trouble the driver, okay?"
The two children still looked puzzled but obediently nodded.
Pushing open the door of the family restaurant, Yvette immediately saw David.
David was sitting facing the door, with a warm beam of sunlight slanting across his face, creating a picturesque scene of light and shadow.
His eyes were fixed on the door, waiting for an important moment. When Yvette walked in with the children, his deep eyes brightened. Dressed casually and holding a cup of tea, David immediately stood up to greet them.
It was then that Yvette noticed his limp, indicating he hadn't fully recovered.
Seeing David, the children's eyes lit up with joy, and without a second thought, they rushed towards him.
David didn't greet Yvette first but instead crouched down with difficulty. "Babies, did you miss Daddy?"
BoBo and CiCi were overjoyed, hugging David's neck and shouting "Daddy" repeatedly.
Seeing this, Yvette felt extremely awkward but couldn't stop it.
After all, in BoBo and CiCi's eyes, David was their biological father.
They were expressing their love and affection for the man who had raised them since birth, and Yvette had no right to stop them.
But watching this scene made her very uncomfortable.
Every time she saw David, it reminded her of the deceit and absurd events that occurred during her amnesia.
If it weren't for David's lies, things wouldn't have come to this.
Yvette's face stiffened slightly, and she furrowed her brows, reminding him, "I brought all the children's documents. When are we going to take care of it?"
Hearing this, the smile on David's face faded, and he slowly stood up.
Holding a child in each hand, he looked at Yvette with eyes devoid of warmth. "Yvette, can't you even give me a little time with the kids? Are you in such a hurry to rush me?"
Yvette's voice was cold. "I brought them here to take care of business, didn't I?"
David stared at Yvette for a long moment before suddenly asking, "Are you really going to that party? Is there really no chance for us? Won't you give me even a little chance?"
Yvette's expression darkened, and her voice was filled with coldness. "If you keep talking about this, I'll take them and leave now."
CiCi looked nervously at Yvette. "Mommy, are we leaving now?"
BoBo's face also turned somber, but he quietly observed Yvette's expression without speaking.
David chuckled, but the smile didn't reach his eyes. "You see, Yvette, can you really bear to make the kids accept this so quickly? They don't understand anything."
Yvette looked down at the two children without answering.
Seeing the hesitation in Yvette's eyes, David continued, "I'll take you to take care of things, but I hope you can give us a little more time to say goodbye. After all, I've been their daddy for a few years."
Before Yvette could respond, David lowered his head and showed a gentle smile to the two children. "Come on, Daddy will take you to the kids' area. You can play there while we wait for dinner."
"Okay, okay!" CiCi was happy again, seeing that they didn't have to leave David, whom they hadn't seen in a long time.
David continued to play the role of the "good daddy." "When dinner is ready, you can't be naughty. When Daddy and Mommy call you, you have to stop playing, wash your hands, and eat."
"Okay, BoBo and I will be good!" BoBo and CiCi quickly took off their shoes and neatly placed them, holding David's hand as they entered the kids' area.
After taking a few steps, CiCi turned around and saw Yvette standing still, watching them. She pouted. "Mommy, Mommy, you have to play with us too!"
CiCi, barefoot, let go of David's hand and ran to Yvette, tightly grasping her hand and pulling her towards the kids' area. Not wanting to hurt CiCi by resisting, Yvette hesitated and was pulled along. With a deep sigh, she squatted down to take off her shoes.
She didn't want to be a bad mom, didn't want to be the villain in her children's eyes, and didn't want to spoil their fun.
Since it was the last meeting, it wouldn't hurt to let the kids have fun before taking care of business.
Around the corner, the bodyguard secretly protecting Yvette held up his phone and took pictures of the "family of four" playing in the kids' area.
The bodyguard's phone rang, and he hesitated before answering, "Mr. Valdemar."
Albert's cold voice came from the other end of the line. "They haven't returned, and there's no one else with them. Keep a close watch and make sure nothing happens."
"Yes..." The bodyguard hesitated. "Understood, Mr. Valdemar."
Albert sensed something was wrong. "Is there danger?"
The bodyguard replied, "No danger."
Albert's voice lowered. "What's going on?"
The bodyguard, eyes fixed on Yvette and David with the kids in the play area, finally spoke, "Reporting, Mr. Valdemar, Mrs. Valdemar is meeting an 'old friend,' but I'm not sure if I should report this to you."
