Chapter 258 Discomfort or Fear of David Overhearing?

Violet's voice got louder, catching Yvette's attention and making her freeze.

"Why not?"

Albert's voice was deep, and he didn't even hesitate.

He sounded like he was smiling, and their flirty chat made Yvette's heart ache.

No need to get closer now.

Yvette looked down, feeling bitter. She took a few steps back and turned to get back in the elevator.

Albert vaguely heard the elevator ding behind him. Albert glanced back but saw no one.

He was just being paranoid. No one would dare come up here without his say-so.

"Are you serious?" Violet's voice snapped Albert back to reality.

When Albert turned back, his face darkened. He spoke coldly, almost mocking, "If you're worth it, sure."

Violet arched an eyebrow but swiftly regained her composure. Locking eyes with Albert, she inquired, "Isn't it just about finding my uncle? If I find him, you'll marry me?"

Albert looked at her without much expression.

With a smile playing on her lips, Violet blinked mischievously as she edged closer to Albert. "I'll help you find him. But if I don't get what I want, I won't tell you what you want to know."

"Of course." Albert's voice stayed calm.

Violet pulled back, a slight smile on her lips. "Alright, it's a deal then. How about later..."

Albert glanced at his watch and cut her off, "I still have work to do, so I won't see you out. Take care."

Violet's face stiffened.

Vincent put down the internal phone and got up to knock on Albert's office door.

Vincent walked in, seeing Albert looking grim and serious.

He was startled and lowered his head. "Mr. Valdemar."

"Has she left?"

Vincent knew he meant Violet and nodded, "Yes, she's been escorted out of the company."

"Have someone follow her." Albert's fingers intertwined, his eyes showing a ruthless glint. "Follow her and we can find Micah."

"Will do."

Yvette walked into the room with the freshly collected clothes. She went to the suitcase and started packing the folded clothes. Seeing the clothes inside folded differently, Yvette paused.

It seemed that her agreement with James was how Albert found out.

Thinking about the scene she witnessed that afternoon, Yvette's eyes showed a complex emotion as she finished packing the suitcase.

Yvette grabbed her fresh clothes and headed to the bathroom for a shower. Upon emerging, she observed that the door to the adjacent study was shut, with a sliver of light peeking through the crack.

Albert was back?

Yvette was surprised. She thought Albert wouldn't return tonight.

She raised her hand to knock on the door to say hello but hesitated and lowered it after a moment.

Since he was planning to divorce her and marry his first love, there was no need to disturb him.

Yvette took a step back and turned to leave.

After finishing his work, Albert came out of the study, looking tired.

He instinctively reached for the bedroom door handle but stopped.

Albert frowned and decided to sleep in the guest room.

As Albert descended the stairs, he caught snippets of conversation. Glancing up, he spotted Yvette in a nightgown engaged in conversation with David.

They were both smiling, and it looked like they were having a good time.

Albert's steps slowed, his eyes turning cold.

He didn't catch what they were talking about, but David even reached out and touched Yvette's head.

Seeing Yvette not pull away, Albert's eyes darkened even more.

Probably noticing him from the corner of her eye, Yvette took a step back, her face stiffening a bit.

Then, Albert heard Yvette say to David, "I'm heading to bed now. Good night."

Albert's face was stern as he walked past them without a word.

Rushing back to her room, Yvette couldn't shake the image of Albert's face in the dim light.

She wasn't sure if she saw it right, but Albert's expression seemed dark and displeased.

It was probably his male possessiveness kicking in. Even though he was planning to divorce her, he still didn't want to see her talking to other guys late at night.

Just as she was thinking, the door suddenly opened. Yvette looked up and met Albert's cold eyes.

Yvette pursed her lips, trying to ease the awkwardness. "You're back?"

In the dimly lit room, she couldn't discern his expression clearly. Tugging the blanket up to her chest, she turned her back to Albert and lay down. "If you're back, let's sleep."

There was silence behind her for a long time.

It seemed Albert didn't hear her or didn't want to answer.

Yvette smiled bitterly. "Then I'll sleep."

Just when Yvette thought he would keep ignoring her, Albert suddenly grabbed her wrist and forcefully turned her around.

Yvette lay on her back, her wrists held tight, her eyes wide in shock.

Albert leaned over her, his eyes cold. "Why that look? Do you hate me that much?"

Yvette knew what he was getting at. Normally, she might blush, but now she just felt lost.

Yvette spoke softly, "I'm not feeling well today. Can we just sleep?"

Her tone was gentle, almost pleading.

But Albert wasn't letting it go. He sneered, gripping Yvette's delicate chin with one hand. "Not feeling well, or afraid David will hear?"

Yvette shook her head. If her hands weren't pinned by Albert, she would have instinctively covered her stomach.

Albert was never one to go easy on her in bed, but how could the baby in her stomach handle his roughness?

Yvette swallowed, staring at Albert. "I really don't feel well today."

Hearing this, Albert pressed down, his narrowed eyes flashing dangerously.

"Just now you were laughing and talking, but suddenly you're feeling unwell with me?" He scoffed. "Yvette, even if you're not feeling great, you've got to tough it out."

Albert then leaned down to kiss her.

Yvette turned her face away, her whole body radiating resistance.

In the faint light, Albert caught sight of tears glistening on Yvette's cheeks.

Albert's face stiffened, his pupils constricting, a hint of regret flashing in his eyes.

He swallowed hard, as if about to speak, but ultimately turned away and got up from beside Yvette.

"Buzzkill."
