Chapter 377 Just Say It's a Medical Miracle

Albert was still in shock from just standing up and didn't react for a moment.

It wasn't until Yvette's voice came again. "It's okay!"

Albert then came back to his senses. He stared intently at the bathroom door, subconsciously wanting to see if he could stand up again without Yvette knowing.

He gripped the wheelchair's armrests tightly, gritting his teeth and enduring the pain as he tried to stand.

But before he could succeed again, Yvette had already pushed open the bathroom door and walked out.

Albert quickly relaxed and sat back in the wheelchair, hiding his emotions.

"I almost got burned just now, but luckily I dodged it," Yvette explained with a smile as she walked to Albert's side. "Otherwise, I would have become a patient too and wouldn't be able to take care of you."

Yvette lowered her head, and the moment she met Albert's gaze, he looked away.

Someone as confident as Albert was never afraid to look anyone in the eye. His sudden avoidance made Yvette feel a bit strange.

She looked at him suspiciously and noticed a faint sheen of sweat on his forehead.

Yvette instantly became nervous. "Did I hurt you when I was changing your dressing just now?"

"No." Albert composed himself. "I want to sleep now."

"Sleep?" Yvette looked at the clock on the wall in surprise. "It's only a little after eight. Are you tired? Not working tonight?"

Albert almost always worked until midnight. His unusual behavior today made Yvette even more puzzled.

A trace of guilt flashed across Albert's face. "Yes, I need to sleep."

Seeing Albert so determined, Yvette didn't say more. She helped him wash up and get into bed.

Afraid of disturbing Albert's sleep, Yvette also finished her nighttime routine early and lay down on her folding bed.

But it was still too early, and Yvette couldn't fall asleep.

Just then, her phone rang, vibrating and flashing in the dark hospital room.

Startled, Yvette picked up the phone and saw that BoBo and CiCi were video calling her.

To avoid disturbing Albert, Yvette quickly took her phone and left the room.

The moment Yvette walked out of the room, Albert, lying in bed, suddenly opened his eyes and eagerly got out of bed, using his arms to support himself as he moved to the wheelchair.

Albert maneuvered the wheelchair straight to his attending physician Doyle Cunningham's open office door, avoiding Yvette. Just as he was about to enter, he heard Doyle and Vincent talking inside.

"Dr. Cunningham, you've seen Mr. Valdemar's scans. If we don't tell him soon, it could be life-threatening when he finds out on his own!" Vincent's voice sounded anxious and fearful.

But Doyle's reaction was completely different. He said nonchalantly, "It's still early. Given his spinal condition, it will probably take another ten days to half a month to heal."

"If we wait until he's healed to tell him, it will be too late," Vincent said with lingering fear. "And if he mistakenly believes he's really paralyzed, the low morale will be suffocating. I can hardly stand it."

"Why can't you think about Mr. Valdemar?" Doyle's voice carried a teasing tone. "His wife is taking care of him every day now. You want him to recover and become normal again? Wait until he wins his wife back first!"

Vincent chuckled bitterly. "I'm caught in the middle, but fortunately, Mrs. Yvette Valdemar didn't believe Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar. If she hadn't come to find me, I would have been in big trouble."

Doyle clicked his tongue lightly and asked curiously, "What's up with Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar? Why doesn't she want Albert to be happy?"

Vincent said, "Maybe Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar has her own considerations."

Vincent's words were cautious, which annoyed Doyle. "You've been with Albert for a long time. Why don't you speak up for him? I've only known him for a few years, and I'm completely on his side!"

"Dr. Cunningham, my situation is different. I rely on the Valdemar Family for work," Vincent explained. "When Mr. Valdemar asked Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar to tell Mrs. Yvette Valdemar the hospital address, Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar changed the message to try to drive Mrs. Yvette Valdemar away. I was instructed by Mr. Valdemar not to contact Mrs. Yvette Valdemar directly, not even hint at it, which made me very anxious."

"Yvette must have deep feelings for Albert. Despite Mrs. Cheryl Valdemar's warning, she still came back to take care of him." Doyle sighed. "Albert is lucky! Falling from the third floor and injuring his spine, yet it didn't affect his nerves or lower limb function."

Vincent breathed a sigh of relief. "Yes, our Mr. Valdemar is indeed fortunate. But Dr. Cunningham, if Mr. Valdemar finds out what we've done, he might really skin us alive."

"What are you afraid of?" Doyle laughed indifferently. "I only discovered it from the scans a few days after he was transferred. When he stands up, we'll just call it a medical miracle."

Sitting in the wheelchair, Albert silently listened to their conversation, finally uncovering their secret "conspiracy."

It turned out his nerves and lower limb function were perfectly fine!

Albert recalled that after being transferred, he had been immersed in painful emotions, believing he would be paralyzed. He could only work day and night to fight the pain.

Moreover, he had clearly informed Yvette of the hospital address, but she hadn't come to see him, adding to his pain and leaving him with no energy to figure out why he couldn't stand.

Now he realized that the pain and weakness in his legs were just due to fractures from the fall, having nothing to do with spinal damage!

He wouldn't be paralyzed at all!

The coldness between Albert's brows dissipated, replaced by boundless joy. His bright eyes sparkled with ecstatic light, and his face was filled with unconcealable happiness.

In the office, Vincent was still uneasy. "Dr. Cunningham, if Mr. Valdemar finds out, can you take the blame for me?"

"Talking to you is exhausting!" Doyle patted Vincent's shoulder. "Just keep an eye on Albert's actions. If he tries to stand up, stop him, especially in front of Yvette. If he really stands up, the situation will be uncontrollably awkward."

Vincent was about to speak when the half-closed office door suddenly swung open, revealing Albert.

Doyle was speechless. This was the truly uncontrollably awkward situation.
