Chapter 373 Yvette, You Are Free

Yvette said, "I don't feel sympathy..."

"Not sympathy?" Albert's eyes were cold. "Right, not sympathy, it's gratitude. Gratitude that I saved your two children. And guilt, guilt that I saved them but ended up paralyzed myself."

"I told you, it's not like that!" Yvette tried hard to explain.

Albert said impatiently, "No wonder you're willing to take care of me. Yvette, if you don't love me, then don't pretend to be like this."

Albert's lips curled into a self-mocking smile, and his eyes were covered with a layer of sarcasm, making Yvette feel even more uncomfortable.

"I'm not pretending, I really hope you get better." Yvette held back her heartache and grievance, explaining, "You need me now, that's why I'm taking care of you, not out of sympathy, gratitude, or guilt."

"Did I say I needed your care?" Albert sneered. "I don't need anything from you except love."

Yvette's lips moved, but she couldn't bring herself to say the word "love."

Now, she no longer dared to love, nor did she have the right to talk about it.

Yvette lowered her eyes, and the entire ward fell into a dead silence.

Seeing Yvette avoid the word "love," the last bit of hope in Albert's heart dissipated. He had been confident he could win her back.

But now, facing paralysis, how could he keep Yvette, who didn't love him, by his side?

No longer the Albert who could give her happiness, he tugged at the corners of his lips and slowly lay down.

At this moment, his emotions had gradually calmed down. He lay on the bed and spoke weakly, "Take the children and go home."

Albert's eyes were dark, no longer showing the brilliance of the past. "I need to rest."

Closing his eyes, Albert refused to communicate with Yvette any further. He had kept her by his side forcefully, believing he could give her the best and make up for the grievances she had suffered. He wanted to pamper her, care for her children, and have children of their own, confident he could provide the best life for Yvette.

But now, he couldn't make up for anything. Every minute he stayed by Yvette's side would only drag her down.

He had lost his health, his ability to take care of himself, the Valdemar Group, and he was no longer Mr. Valdemar.

A paralyzed man shouldn't force Yvette to stay by his side anymore.

Yvette's eyes were already red, with a thin layer of tears. "Albert..."

"I know you've always wanted to leave." Albert's voice was cold, like a sharp blade of ice, piercing her heart with every word. "From today on, I won't stop you anymore."

Albert's Adam's apple moved slightly, and every word was extremely difficult to say, "Yvette, you're free."

Yvette's body went weak; she hadn't slept for two days and nights.

The long period of tension had drained her energy, and she was now in a daze.

Her eyelids drooped slightly, and she held back the pain in her heart. "I can leave today, but I won't go until you get better."

Yvette lowered her eyes and gently pulled the two children up. "BoBo, CiCi, let's go home."

She knew Albert didn't want to burden her, and she knew this was a perfect opportunity to escape from him and the Valdemar Family.

But Yvette also knew that Albert was injured and facing paralysis because he saved BoBo and CiCi.

If she left without a care, and something happened to Albert, she would never be at peace for the rest of her life.

Instead of living in guilt and regret forever, it was better to wait until he got better before leaving.

Yvette picked up the two children from the bed.

But she was probably too tired, her whole body weak. Although the children weren't heavy, she struggled to hold them and almost dropped BoBo.

A tear fell from Yvette's eye, and she quietly wiped it away. "Sorry, BoBo, Mommy didn't hold you properly."

"It's okay, Mommy." BoBo held Yvette's hand. "Let's go home."

Yvette said, "Okay."

Lying in bed, Albert saw Yvette struggling, barely able to stand, and instinctively wanted to get up to help her.

But the man who could easily lift her and the two children before couldn't even stand up now.

For the first time, Albert felt a sense of desolation. In his current state, how was he any different from a useless person?

Albert turned his head to the other side, closed his eyes, and no longer looked at Yvette.

He no longer had the ability to protect her.

Yvette took the two children home, settled them in, packed some of her toiletries, and was about to leave.

Suddenly, a childish voice came. "Mommy, are you going to take care of... him?"

Yvette turned around and saw BoBo, freshly bathed, wearing pajamas, his hair still wet and wrapped in a towel. His little face was serious beyond his years.

He seemed a bit anxious, running out of the room without even wearing slippers.

The floor at the doorway was instantly stained with water.

Yvette looked at BoBo with some heartache. "Sorry, BoBo, Mommy really has to go to him and doesn't have time to stay with you."

She knew BoBo and CiCi must have been frightened and needed her comfort.

But clearly, Albert's situation was more serious.

"We know, and we'll be good." BoBo paused, then cautiously asked, "Mommy, is he... very serious?"

BoBo rubbed his eyes and looked at Yvette with confusion.

Yvette was stunned. She actually saw a hint of worry in BoBo's eyes?

Thinking of how BoBo had only been wary and dissatisfied with Albert before, afraid he would affect David's position.

But now, Yvette could clearly feel that BoBo's hostility towards Albert had unknowingly diminished a lot.

Yvette was momentarily moved. She thought for a moment and explained, "I'm not sure, but Mommy believes that as long as he cooperates with the treatment, he will be much better than he is now."

BoBo lowered his eyes. "But he doesn't seem to want you to take care of him, Mommy."

BoBo's voice was a bit low. Maybe he couldn't understand why Albert, who wanted to spend more time with him and CiCi every day, was now rejecting it.

Yvette's heart ached, knowing the conversation in the hospital must have been heard by the two children. They were also aware of Cheryl and Albert's attitude towards her.

Yvette squatted down in front of BoBo and hugged him.

"Yes, he's very fragile and helpless right now. He really needs Mommy." Yvette kissed his soft cheek. "He's just being stubborn. Mommy knows."
