Chapter 449 Hayden Did Not Trust the Wrong Person

Yvette stood up, avoiding Clifford's gaze, and pushed open the half-closed door of the lounge.

She hurried out, only to bump into someone unexpectedly.

Her heart skipped a beat as she looked up to see who it was and found herself face-to-face with Ingrid.

Ingrid's expression was strange, her mouth open as if she wanted to say something.

Yvette's back stiffened, and she tried to calm her emotions.

Ingrid's eyes flickered before she spoke, "What are you doing here?"

"I was looking for BoBo and CiCi," Yvette replied, then turned and walked away without waiting for a response.

With the help of a servant, Yvette found BoBo and CiCi in Niamh's room and took them home.

This trip was definitely a mistake.

Yvette curled up on the couch, her hands nervously twisting together. She stared at the smooth floor, her mind filled with worry and unease.

She wasn't sure if Ingrid had overheard her conversation with Clifford.

This uncertainty weighed heavily on her, making it hard to stay calm. The fear inside her felt like an invisible hand gripping her heart, making her anxious and tense.

The thought of the lounge door being ajar when she left made her shiver.

Yvette tried to reassure herself, telling herself it was just a coincidence, but the unease wouldn't go away.

Knowing Ingrid's meddlesome nature, she wouldn't let this go easily.

Would she tell Albert?

And if she did, would Albert let her off the hook?

Yvette's mind was flooded with questions, and the anxiety made her palms sweat.

Forcing herself to stay calm, she replayed every detail of the lounge encounter in her mind.

She tried to find clues to determine if Ingrid had seen or heard anything.

Yvette knew Ingrid well enough to know that if she had overheard the conversation, she wouldn't have let her go so easily.

Moreover, Ingrid had asked, "What are you doing here?"

It suggested that she hadn't seen Yvette and Clifford together in the lounge or heard their conversation, which was why she asked.

Upon thinking this, Yvette's tense body slowly relaxed.

She let out a breath, realizing she might have been overly anxious.

The Valdemar Family Banquet.

Under the moonlit sky, the Valdemar Family mansion was brightly lit.

The banquet hall was lavishly decorated. A long dining table was surrounded by smiling family members under the sparkling chandelier.

The tableware was handcrafted bone china with gold trim, looking incredibly exquisite.

The Valdemar Family chefs meticulously prepared the dishes, each one a feast for the senses.

Albert sat at the head of the table, dressed in a dark suit, his hair perfectly styled, looking more serious than usual. Yvette sat on a distant sofa with the two children, watching Albert with a sense of detachment.

It had been years since she had accompanied Albert to such events, and she hadn't seen him in his element at the Valdemar Family for a long time.

Albert had matured significantly over the years.

His commanding presence overshadowed even the elders in the room, including his father. The relatives had to bow their heads in his presence.

Albert was not only a qualified heir but had also become a competent leader of the Valdemar Family.

Hayden had placed his trust in the right person.

Throughout the banquet, Yvette stayed close to Albert with BoBo and CiCi.

Despite the varied looks from those around them, no one dared approach Yvette due to Albert's intimidating presence.

Suddenly, BoBo rubbed his eyes, looking sleepy.

Yvette looked down at him, "BoBo, are you tired?"

BoBo nodded, "Yeah, Mommy, I want to sleep."

CiCi tugged at Yvette's clothes, "Mommy, I'm tired too. Can we go home and sleep?"

Yvette glanced around the room, about to respond, when Albert spoke first.

"Tired? Let Mommy take you upstairs to sleep. We have rooms here, too."

CiCi nodded, "I know, we stayed here when we first came back to Luken."

Yvette stiffened, instinctively looking at Albert, afraid he might be angry. CiCi was referring to David's room.

To her surprise, Albert's expression didn't change. "Daddy has prepared the best room for you and BoBo. Would you like to sleep there?"

Albert paused, "There's an Elsa princess in there."

"Yes!" CiCi looked at BoBo and then asked Albert, "Is there something BoBo likes too?"

"Yes, the room has many of my old airplane models."

"Wow! BoBo will love that!" CiCi raised her hand, "We want to sleep in that room!"

Despite his cold demeanor, Yvette was touched by Albert's thoughtfulness. He always seemed to anticipate and cater to the children's needs.

If he knew everything he did was for his own children, he would be even happier, wouldn't he?

Albert turned to Yvette, "You go to the master bedroom on the second floor. I've had it prepared."

"Okay."

As Yvette left with the children, Albert's uncles and aunts looked displeased but didn't dare speak up in his presence.

Bishop grumbled, "Albert is getting more and more disrespectful to the Valdemar Family. This important banquet, meeting with Marcus and the entire international medical team, and he brings that Yvette and those two..."

"Watch your words!" Albert's aunt, Sabrina Valdemar, gave him a warning look. "No matter what, those two children are part of the Valdemar Family. If Albert or David hears this, you'll be in trouble!"

Bishop's face darkened, "So what? What can they do? I'm still their elder. They wouldn't dare lay a hand on me."

"Maybe not physically, but they can certainly diminish your standing in the Valdemar Family," Albert's third uncle, Quincy Valdemar, sneered. "Hasn't he done enough of that while she was gone? Haven't you suffered enough?"

The elders exchanged glances, their eyes filled with resentment, but they didn't dare continue.

They had experienced Albert's ruthless methods and didn't want a repeat.

Just then, Albert's deep voice came from behind them.

"Seems like you all have something to say?"

The group stiffened.
