Chapter 131 Albert, Don't You Regret It
The living room was bright, with light gray marble floors reflecting the lights, cold but dazzling.
Albert grabbed the doorknob, eyeing David outside who looked just like him, feeling impatient.
Albert grumbled, "How'd you find me?"
David handed over some documents, looking annoyed. "Dad told me to bring these."
Albert asked, "What's this?"
David shrugged. "No idea. He just said to deliver it."
Albert frowned, glanced at the papers, and tossed them on the floor. "Got it. Anything else?"
Albert's coldness, not even letting him in, ticked David off.
David thought, 'Albert always got all of Mom's love and Yvette's attention.'
Thinking of Yvette's happy face, David's jaw tightened.
He couldn't hold back his anger, gritting his teeth, "Albert, why'd you sign that agreement?"
Albert sneered inside. He knew David couldn't let go of the Valdemar family's wealth and business, which is why he betrayed him and their mom to return to the Valdemar family. He even did the dirty work for them, going abroad for years without complaint.
Albert thought, 'But I wouldn't.'
The Valdemar family's wealth meant nothing to him.
Albert sneered, "Why hold onto something you don't want?"
David's anger flared, veins bulging on his forehead. "Something you don't want!"
"Yeah," Albert confirmed, "I don't care for it."
David clenched his fists, resisting the urge to punch Albert.
David took a deep breath, eyes dark, voice low, "Albert, you better not regret this."
Albert replied casually, "I won't."
After the party, Violet was in shock, unable to believe what James had said.
Violet kept thinking, 'Albert is divorcing Yvette to marry the eldest daughter of the Horizon Group for benefits!'
Violet asked her mom for a way to contact Lisa and timed her visit to the beauty salon Lisa frequented.
Violet booked a slot after Lisa's but went early, pretending to bump into her.
"Aunt Moore!" Violet greeted Lisa. "Didn't expect to see you here. Do you come here often? What a coincidence!"
Lisa was surprised. "Violet? You here alone? Your mom didn't come?"
"No, she's busy today." Violet feigned surprise. "No wonder she recommended this place. You come here too."
Lisa asked, "You booked for this time?"
Violet shook her head, looking regretful. "No, I booked later but came early hoping for a cancellation. Looks like I'll have to wait."
"In a hurry?" Lisa said, "How about I switch to a double room, and you join me? We can chat."
When women share a beauty bed, their bond often deepens.
Violet hinted, "I used to go to another salon with a friend, but she just got pregnant through IVF, so I had to find a new place."
Lisa perked up. "Your friend got pregnant through IVF?"
"Yeah, she tried for years and finally found a good doctor. Got pregnant after two tries."
Lisa cleared her throat. "That's wonderful. Violet, I don't have your number. Can we exchange contacts? We could come here together."
"Sure." Violet was thrilled, having reached her goal. She took a deep breath and asked, "By the way, Aunt Moore, is it true Albert's divorcing Yvette?"
"Yes, Albert signed the papers. It should happen soon." Lisa sighed. "I wish I could help, but I heard from James that Albert's marrying Melissa from the Horizon Group."
Lisa's tone was sincere. "Violet, you should move on. Albert has his own plans. No one can stop him from marrying or divorcing."
Night had fallen, and the streets outside the car window were still bustling.
Dim streetlights cast long halos, reflecting off car lights. The flickering lights made Yvette in the back seat of the taxi feel calmer.
Her phone rang, and Yvette answered.
"Hello, this is the baby products store. You registered as a member, so we're inviting you to our 'Parenting Class' this weekend. Interested?"
Yvette was about to refuse but paused.
Thinking of how Albert's attitude had improved and how he said he'd pick her up, she didn't refuse immediately.
Since the taxi driver was a stranger, Yvette dared to say, "I'll check with my husband first."
Saying "husband" gave Yvette a little thrill, like butterflies in her stomach.
Yvette hung up and looked at the dark phone screen, which reflected her slightly upturned lips.
Startled, she quickly pressed her lips together.
Just then, the phone rang again. Yvette answered casually, and a familiar female voice came through.
It was Violet, "We need to meet."
Yvette instinctively refused. "No need. Just say it over the phone."
Violet paused, "Are you sure?"
Yvette replied, "Yes."
Violet's voice came slowly, "You're getting divorced, aren't you?"
Yvette was stunned, "We're not getting divorced."
Violet continued, "Albert's father told me Albert's divorcing you to marry Melissa from the Horizon Group. So, Yvette, we're both victims."
Yvette's throat tightened. Hearing the unfamiliar name and the word "divorce" from Violet, she found it hard to breathe.
Yvette stubbornly said, "I did bring up divorce, but Albert didn't agree."
"He didn't agree?" Violet laughed. "You're too naive, Yvette. He already signed the divorce papers. If you don't believe me, ask David. He has the papers and will talk to you soon."
