Chapter 147 A Farewell in the Heart

The moment Albert saw it was Violet, the anticipation in his eyes disappeared.

Albert frowned. "Did Yvette send you?"

His disappointment was obvious, and Violet looked taken aback.

Her cheeks stiffened, and she nodded. "Yeah, she called me. Said you were hurt and asked me to check on you."

"I'm fine," Albert replied, sounding resistant.

Violet pressed her lips together, a hint of hurt in her eyes. "You say you're fine, but you called Yvette for help."

Albert frowned, looking at her coldly. "I didn't expect her to call you."

He clearly wanted Yvette, not Violet.

Violet pretended not to notice and smiled. "She didn't come, but I did. Aren't you touched?"

Albert said coldly, "Go home. I've already finished the check-up."

Violet's smile froze. "Yvette asked me to take care of you, and you're just sending me away?"

Albert replied in a deep voice, "I don't need it."

Violet lowered her eyes. "You only need Yvette, right?"

Albert answered, "Yes."

Violet's face turned ugly. "But you two are getting divorced. Does this make any sense?"

Albert's brows furrowed, and his demeanor darkened.

Her words hit a sore spot.

Without looking at her, Albert said, "It's none of your business," and walked away.

After hanging up, Yvette put down her phone.

Albert's sudden vulnerability was as puzzling as his random acts of kindness.

To Yvette, his vulnerability felt like a signal to get closer. But it only made her panic.

She looked at her phone, now black again, with a hint of reluctance.

Their entanglement needed to end.

After the divorce, Albert wouldn't have to face someone he didn't love, and she wouldn't have to deal with an unloving Albert.

He wouldn't have to deal with Lassie's greed for money, and she wouldn't feel ashamed because of Lassie's behavior.

So, she couldn't respond to Albert's injury or keep up the facade of their soon-to-end marriage.

After thinking for a while, Yvette called Violet.

Violet sounded surprised. "Yvette? You're calling me?"

"Yes," Yvette said softly. "Albert is hurt. He's at the Medical Evaluation Center and needs your help."

Violet paused for a moment, half-believing. "Why are you asking me?"

"Because we're getting divorced, and you have a chance to be with him again," Yvette said without hesitation.

After ending the call, Yvette looked at her phone, now black again, and tugged at the corners of her mouth.

Her nose felt slightly sour, and her eyes a bit swollen.

Even though she had initiated the divorce and knew it was the best outcome, now that the day had come, the day she handed him over to someone else, Yvette felt a heavy weight in her chest.

Albert was the man she had longed for all these years. Her teenage crush, the one she never forgot.

Yvette lowered her eyes and said goodbye to Albert in her heart.

'If we could do it all over again, I hope we never meet.' She muttered to herself.
