Chapter 70 Albert Has Finally Learned How to Soothe His Wife
As early summer arrives, the temperature gradually rises, making people sweat.
On the bustling street, with the sounds of car engines coming and going, Yvette stood quietly by the roadside, hands clasped, waiting patiently.
A large bus passed in front of Yvette, and finally, the familiar dark red car appeared.
The car stopped in front of Yvette, and the window slowly rolled down. Sylvia's head poked out from the driver's seat. "Get in the car quickly."
"Okay." Yvette finally showed some expression on her face.
After getting in the car, Yvette quietly fastened her seatbelt without saying an extra word.
Sylvia glanced at Yvette and started the car.
She drove slowly but cursed quickly.
"What’s wrong with you, Yvette? You've even misplaced your phone? In today's world, it's unthinkable to go anywhere without one. Look at the situation you've landed yourself in, you can't even get back home! I had to come and get you! It's not just your phone you've lost, it seems like you've lost your senses too."
Listening to Sylvia's words, Yvette felt like she was truly alive.
Yvette grinned at Sylvia. "As long as I can remember your phone number, it's enough. You'll always come to find me anyway."
This was the sense of security between good friends.
Sylvia was used to Yvette relying on her. While driving, she continued to nag Yvette. "How did you get here? Try calling your phone with mine and see if anyone has found it. This area is a wealthy neighborhood; the people living here are rich and probably won't keep your phone."
Yvette pursed her lips. "I think it's hard to find."
Sylvia said, "Is your phone turned off? If so, it might be hard to find. The real issue here is, you can't recall where you misplaced it. Where were you? Try to jog your memory."
Yvette blinked, slowly lowered her eyes, and her long eyelashes trembled slightly. She silently clenched the loose fabric of her pants on her thigh.
The pants wrinkled instantly, mirroring her jumbled thoughts.
Where had she been? Of course, she remembered.
After Albert and Violet left, Yvette sat in Albert's house for a long time.
She didn't know what she was waiting for. Albert and Violet indeed did not come back.
Yvette knew that waiting longer would only make it more embarrassing, so she changed into her own clothes and left.
When she left Albert's neighborhood and was about to hail a cab, she realized she had left her phone behind. She looked visibly lost and pitiful.
It would have been better to wait at his house.
As Sylvia said, without her phone, she couldn't go anywhere and had to walk back, planning to wait at the elevator in Albert's house until he returned so she could get her phone and leave.
But just as she walked past the parking lot, she saw Albert and Violet.
Her steps instantly halted.
On the other side of a tall support pillar, Albert and Violet stood face to face, their height difference creating a sense of ambiguity.
Albert had his back to Yvette, so she couldn't see his expression, only his tall, broad back slightly stiffened. In front of him, Violet, with her graceful figure and carefully groomed appearance, looked almost unreal in her beauty.
Yvette didn't know what they were talking about, but Violet suddenly lost control. Her slender shoulders trembled slightly, and her proud head hung low in front of Albert, crying pitifully.
Albert seemed somewhat unfeeling. He stood in front of Violet, and although they were close, he had his hands in his pockets, making no move.
It seemed they had been in a stalemate for a long time.
Now, there was an additional Yvette watching them from afar.
Violet looked up at Albert, and Yvette saw a stubborn look from her eyes; her eyes red, clearly unable to hold back tears, yet still wide open. The more she pretended to be strong, the more pitiful she seemed.
Apparently, Albert felt the same way.
So, when Violet moved to hug Albert the very next second, his tall figure subtly shifted, bending slightly in a sign of surrender as he returned her embrace.
They eventually reconciled, leaving her as the clown, entertaining everyone.
Yvette's back stiffened, and she couldn't move her feet.
At that moment, her mind went blank.
Yvette still felt a bit uneasy recalling that scene, her heart contracting slightly.
Clearly, it was two people in love finding relief after a quarrel and embracing, but it deeply hurt Yvette. A story of three was always crowded, and she happened to be the extra one.
She squinted, looking at the sunset outside the clinic.
The hospital building wasn't high, but the view was excellent. In the distance, an orange-red sun hung in the sky, its rays spilling generously into the clinic. In such a romantic setting, Yvette was daydreaming about her husband embracing another woman.
It was truly pitiful.
Suddenly, the clinic door was pushed open, and Yvette was startled, turning to look at the visitor.
Sylvia's excited face appeared before Yvette, grabbing her shoulders and shaking them excitedly.
"Yvette, Albert is here; he came to find you."
Hearing Albert's name, Yvette's expression froze. "What does he want?"
"What else could it be? You two have been fighting recently, right? If he came to find you, he must want to make up."
Thinking of him and Violet, Yvette forced a smile, half self-mockingly saying, "Really?"
Sylvia was still happy. "Albert has made progress; he has finally learned how to soothe his wife."
Yvette moved her ears slightly and asked, "Where is he?"
Sylvia replied, "He's waiting for you outside. Go ahead, the right-side fire escape corridor is usually empty; you can kiss without being seen."
"I'll go now," said Yvette.
Albert stood with his back to the clinic, leaning against the wall; his gaze fixed on the distance. In the quiet hallway, he heard light yet familiar footsteps behind him.
Albert instinctively turned around and indeed saw Yvette walking towards him step by step.
She walked slowly, and the moment their eyes met, she lowered her gaze, seemingly not wanting to communicate with him.
Albert's brow furrowed, his hand, which was in his pocket clutching her phone, instinctively relaxed.
The phone thudded back into his pocket, and Albert pulled himself together, striding towards Yvette.
Yvette came up to him, unable to avoid him, and finally lifted her eyes to give him a fleeting glance. "Do you need something?"
Albert looked down at Yvette, trying to ignore the distance in her tone, and began to think of something to say.
His lips moved, and he hesitated for a moment.
He asked Yvette, "Have you eaten?"
