Chapter 305 David and Yvette Live Next Door

The second that creepy feeling of being watched vanished, Yvette finally let out a sigh of relief. Lying wasn't her strong suit, but she had to do it with all those eyes on her.

She took the kids upstairs, and as they passed Albert's room, she couldn't help but think about what had just gone down.

Her brows knitted together, her cheeks turned red, and she felt even more annoyed with Albert.

Back in David's room, Yvette took the kids to the bathroom for a bath.

After a day of meeting new people and experiencing new things, Lester and Christina were still excited. Even at bedtime, they were energetic, chatting in the bubble-filled tub.

Christina blew a bubble onto Lester's face. "BoBo, I like great-grandma! She likes us a lot too!"

Lester replied, "I like great-grandma the most too, besides mommy and daddy."

Then, as if remembering something, Lester wrinkled his little nose and shook his head.

Christina didn't notice Lester's little gesture. "I looked closely today, daddy and Albert look exactly the same!"

Lester nodded. "Daddy and Albert are twins, just like us."

Christina asked curiously, "So, did daddy and Albert take baths together too?"

Lester frowned. "Adults don't take baths together."

Christina asked, "Huh? Did they when they were kids?"

Just then, David entered the bathroom with two clean towels.

David smiled. "Daddy heard you talking from outside the door. What are you guys chatting about?"

Yvette was about to wash the bubbles off her hands and cover Christina's mouth, but it was too late.

Seeing him come in, Christina quickly asked, "Daddy, did you take baths with Albert when you were little?"

David's smile froze, and after a moment, he said with a hint of bitterness, "Yes, our mommy used to bathe us."

Yvette said awkwardly, "Alright, no more talking. If you keep chatting, you'll go to bed late tonight."

David helped Lester and Christina wash off the bubbles, wrapped each in a towel, and carried them to the bed in the bedroom.

Yvette came out after tidying up the bathroom to find the kids already in their pajamas, lying on the bed. She felt a bit nervous.

When she was still Jessica, she avoided physical contact with David, and they had never slept in the same bed. Now, having regained her memories as Yvette, it was even more difficult.

Yvette hesitated, glanced at the sofa. It was inconvenient for her to sleep on the sofa with the kids, but she was also too embarrassed to ask David to sleep on the sofa directly.

Yvette asked tentatively, "David, can you help me take care of the kids tonight?"

David said, "No."

Yvette paused.

"You sleep with the kids on the bed, I'll sleep on the sofa," David said seriously. "Don't say 'help you' anymore. I told you, I'm their daddy, and that won't change. Their matters are my responsibility."

Yvette bit her lip. "Thank you, David."

David chuckled. "I've said it before, if you ever need help, come to me anytime. That offer stands forever."

Yvette looked at him, moved. She opened her mouth to say something, but David interrupted her.

"Alright, you got your clothes wet while bathing them. Don't catch a cold, go take a shower."

"Okay." Yvette nodded. "Then you help me put them to sleep..."

David frowned. "Hmm?"

Yvette said, "Then you put them to sleep first, I'll come after my shower."

David smiled again. "Alright, go ahead."

Yvette took her pajamas and walked into the bathroom, completely unaware that David's previously soft and gentle gaze had turned cold and hard.

Even if Yvette didn't want to share a bed with him, only the two of them knew that.

Sharing a room in the Valdemar household made it clear to Albert: David and Yvette, a couple with two adorable kids, belonged to him.

It was late at night, and the lively Valdemar Family gradually quieted down, everything around was silent.

Only the stars outside the window twinkled, reflecting the moonlight into Albert's room.

Albert leaned against the large floor-to-ceiling window, the cold moonlight spilling over his shoulders.

He lowered his head slightly, his eyes flickering with an unclear light.

The cigarette between his fingers emitted a faint wisp of smoke, and Albert's brows never relaxed.

Yvette and David were sleeping in the room next door.

The Valdemar Villa had good soundproofing; with the doors and windows closed, nothing could be heard.

Albert's mind uncontrollably conjured images of David pressing down on Yvette, and he couldn't shake them off.

Albert exhaled, the hazy blue-white smoke obscuring his dark face.

Abruptly extinguishing the cigarette, he strode out of the room.

David was tall, but fortunately, the Valdemar Family's sofa was big enough, so he didn't sleep uncomfortably.

The cold moonlight shone through the window, and David, in the dim light, looked at Yvette on the bed.

She had her back to him, her spine stiff, seemingly still awake.

At that moment, his phone vibrated slightly. David unlocked his phone, and his eyes widened.

The message was from the private detective he had hired.

[Mr. Valdemar, there's news from Micah. The person has been found.]

David's grip on the phone tightened. Finding Micah would give him leverage over James and Lisa, putting him on equal footing with Albert.

With these two kids in the mix, the advantage was his.

His eyes darkened, lips curling coldly, as he rose cautiously, beginning to dress.

He whispered, "Yvette, I have something to take care of."

Before David received the news, James and Lisa, who had already gone to bed, also got the message.

James threw his phone heavily onto the bed and questioned, "Wasn't this taken care of a long time ago? If I hadn't had someone watching, how much more trouble would this have caused?!"

Lisa was also shocked. "How could this be..."

James said in a deep voice, "Get dressed quickly, let's go and handle this."

"Okay, okay."

Dressed and hurrying downstairs, they ran into Albert, who stood relaxed at the door corner with one hand in his pocket.

He looked them up and down. "What? Going out so late?"

James and Lisa exchanged a glance, pretending to be calm, but their flickering eyes betrayed their panic.

James cleared his throat. "A friend of ours had an accident and is in the hospital. We're going to check on them. Why aren't you asleep?"

Albert didn't speak, his thin lips pressed tightly together, staring at them meaningfully.

James glanced at his watch impatiently. "Alright, it's urgent, we have to go."

With that, the two hurriedly left the Valdemar Family.

Albert's eyes lowered, a cold smile tugging at his lips.

He simply wanted to gauge James's knowledge of Sarah's situation. It appeared they were in collusion.

He poured himself a glass of water, sat on the sofa, and quietly waited for the most important person.

Soon, familiar footsteps approached. Albert turned and met David's surprised eyes, curling his lips.

Albert thought, 'Here he comes,'

The move had two purposes, one being to get David some fresh air.

Because he didn't want to hear Yvette and David making any annoying noises in the room next to his.
