Chapter 112 Yvette Is the Girl from Back Then

Violet's shifty eyes told Yvette she was right; Violet was scared of Albert getting his memory back. She was already freaking out before Yvette even said a word.

Yvette shrugged and said, "Look, if you're so worried about him remembering, you better not mess with me. Piss me off, and I might just help him remember everything."

Violet's eyes went wide, her lips quivered, but she held back. "I'm just saying, don't be a burden to Albert. You're not good enough for him."

"Is it a crime to not be good enough for Albert? Why does everyone have to be perfect for him? If being a match meant a lasting relationship, why did you two break up?" Yvette tilted her head. "You look so pathetic when you say stuff like that. You're scared, aren't you? Scared your lies will come out."

"I'm not scared of him remembering!" Violet's face was flustered, but she couldn't show weakness. She clenched her fists and said, "Even if he remembers, so what? Even if I'm not the girl who originally had the necklace, he put it on me himself. Our years together won't just vanish."

"Really? So you're not scared of him remembering."

"Of course not!" Violet gritted her teeth, trying to hide her panic. "What difference would it make if you told him? Do you really think a necklace alone will make him fall for you?!"

"If you're not scared, then why don't I go tell him and see what happens?"

Yvette's voice was calm, but every word cut deep, exposing Violet's hidden fear.

Violet's pupils shrank. She wanted to stay defiant but didn't dare say more, afraid Yvette would really go to Albert and spill the beans about that summer.

"Yvette, if you were going to say something, why wait until now?" Violet asked, "What do you want?"

"I don't want anything; I just hate being messed with." Yvette took a step back, eyes full of contempt. "Don't mess with me. If you do, you'll regret it."

Yvette's assertiveness made Violet start to fear her. She barely remembered how she got home. Just thinking about Yvette's threat to tell Albert everything made her tremble.

She had seen how Albert's attitude changed because of that necklace, so she couldn't underestimate its power.

What exactly happened between Yvette and Albert that made him treasure it so much?

Did Albert ever like Yvette?

If Albert found out she had been lying and wasn't the owner of the necklace, would he lose all his feelings for her? Would he erase everything that had happened between them?

Just thinking about it made her heart ache.

After calming down, she took out her phone, found the number of Albert's psychologist, and called.

The person on the other end answered quickly.

"Ms. Swift?"

"Hello, Doctor." Violet's tone was very respectful. "I didn't expect you to remember me."

"Of course, you often call to check on Mr. Valdemar's health."

"I'm calling today to ask you..." Violet bit her lip and cautiously asked, "Will Albert ever remember the lost memories?"

The psychologist's voice was gentle, soothing. "Ms. Swift, Mr. Valdemar's amnesia is due to both physical and psychological stress. Please don't worry. Maybe one day, something might trigger his memory, or he might never remember."

"Really? He might never remember?" Violet exhaled slowly, feeling a bit more at ease.

"Yes. So both you and Mr. Valdemar should stay calm. If he really can't remember, it's just a period of lost memories. As long as you love each other, it doesn't matter whether Mr. Valdemar remembers those memories, right?"

Violet pressed her lips together. Her previously despairing eyes now held a glimmer of hope. "Yes, thank you."

Around the corner, Albert stood with a complex expression.

By the time he processed all the information, Yvette and Violet were no longer there.

Albert stood in a daze, his eyes deep and calm on the surface, but hiding intense emotions.

He was sure he hadn't misheard or missed anything.

Yvette had admitted that she was the girl from back then.

She clearly knew and remembered what had happened, yet she didn't acknowledge it in front of him.

Albert's face tightened. The joy of finding his childhood friend lasted only a few seconds before it was overshadowed by confusion.

He couldn't just let it go; he needed to find her and get answers.

Yvette wasn't the type to enjoy arguments, and winning one didn't bring her the satisfaction she imagined.

Walking alone out of the hospital, she was suddenly pulled by an unknown force.

She almost fell, but the person who pulled her caught her in time.

Startled, she looked up and met a familiar pair of eyes.

"Albert?"

Albert's eyes, cold and piercing, narrowed sharply. His gaze at Yvette was filled with emotions she couldn't understand.

He half-closed his eyes and asked in a low voice, "Yvette, I'll ask you one more time. Did you know me back then?"

Yvette met his gaze, pressed her lips together, and said, "I already told you, I don't..."

"Yvette!" Albert called her name sternly, interrupting her denial. "I heard what you and Violet said."

Yvette was stunned and thought, 'Was he there at that time?'

Thinking about what they had said, it seemed there was no way to hide it anymore.

"Why don't you want to admit it?" Albert looked at Yvette, his eyes like stars, with a hint of expectation.

Yvette said, "Because I think the necklace has nothing to do with emotions." She spoke calmly. "I don't want you to pursue me just because you know the necklace is mine. That would make me feel like you love the necklace, not the person. It would insult both Violet and me. I'd rather you never develop feelings for me, at least, you would be a person with genuine emotions."

Albert's eyes darkened, his voice low and hoarse. "I have the right to know the truth."

"The truth has no impact on our relationship and is completely unimportant."

"Unimportant? You think it's unimportant?" Albert frowned, his eyes narrowing, his gaze cold.

"Yes, I think it's unimportant." Yvette raised her hand to shake off Albert's grip on her arm and took a step back.

Albert stood there in a daze, looking at her calm and unruffled eyes.

'She didn't seem to be lying; she genuinely didn't care. The truth was so important to me, but she didn't care at all.'

Albert thought, 'I still don't understand. If Yvette didn't like me and didn't care about the past, why would she be willing to be my lover, becoming my sexual partner for so long without any conditions? I don't understand, I really don't.'
