Chapter 102 Eating Stew
After zoning out all afternoon, it was soon the end of the work day, and Elsa still hadn't figured anything out.
Elsa really didn't want to go home, so she grabbed a cab to the hospital first.
When she arrived, Vincent was scrolling on his iPad. When he saw Elsa, he quickly turned off the screen and set it aside. His eyes were red, like he'd been crying.
Someone who just had a heart transplant shouldn't be getting too emotional.
"Why are you crying?" Elsa asked.
"It's nothing."
Elsa reached for the iPad. She knew Vincent's password. When she opened it, it was news about Luke and Margaret.
"Why are you looking at this?" Elsa knew Vincent didn't usually follow the news.
"Karen sent it to me," Vincent replied.
"You added Karen on Facebook?" Elsa asked, shocked.
"No, she somehow got my number and sent me the link." Vincent looked even more disheartened, his head hanging low, eyes redder than before.
"Elsa, how can you put up with this? If it's because Luke paid for my surgery that you're putting up with his nonsense, I don't want this heart!"
Seeing Vincent's childish look, Elsa's heart softened. "Vincent, I have my reasons for doing this. Do you trust me?"
"Of course. You're my sister." Vincent couldn't help but sob a little.
"If you trust me, you should support all my decisions, right?" Elsa didn't want to talk too much about revenge with Vincent, because he was still young.
"Okay, Elsa. I trust you and support you. But..."
"No buts. If I don't get a divorce, it's definitely to maximize our benefits. Of course, the same goes if I do get a divorce. You need to just focus on recovering and don't overthink. Also, remember to block Karen's number. Ignore any messages she sends. She just can't stand to see us doing well."
Elsa stayed with Vincent for over an hour before leaving the hospital.
The hospital was bustling. Elsa tried to hail a cab, but none were available.
"Ms. Miller, what a coincidence." The familiar black Bentley appeared again. The window rolled down, revealing Jonathan's handsome and mature face.
"Mr. Green, are you here to visit a patient too?" What a coincidence, running into him twice in one day.
"Visiting a friend," Jonathan said, opening the passenger door for Elsa.
"Get in. I dropped you off this morning, and I'll take you back tonight. Consider it a full circle," Jonathan joked.
"What did I do to deserve you as my chauffeur, Mr. Green?" Elsa couldn't help but laugh.
On the way, Jonathan kept an eye on the road while saying, "I also saw that news today."
Elsa responded with a grunt.
"What do you think?" Jonathan asked.
"I haven't decided yet," Elsa said honestly. "You probably know how I got into this marriage, but I haven't figured out how to move forward."
“Isn't this a problem that Luke Taylor should be tackling?" Jonathan asked, looking at Elsa with interest.
"Whoever needs this marriage more should figure it out, I guess. Clearly, I need it more."
Jonathan had a particular charm that made it easy for Elsa to open up to him.
"You don't want to spend his money, and you don't care much about status. So what do you want from marrying him? Could it be..." his voice trailed off, but inwardly, he guessed, 'the Miller family.'.
"You'll find out eventually," Elsa said.
Elsa was eager to let the world see the true colors of the Miller family, so she didn't mind letting Jonathan know about her family matters. But it was a long story and there was no need to get into it.
It was getting dark. Elsa looked at the streetlights gradually lighting up around her and suddenly didn't want to go home so soon. On a whim, she said, "Mr. Green, let me treat you to dinner."
"Sure," Jonathan agreed without hesitation.
"How about some stew?" Elsa really didn't want to be forced to eat well-done steak by Jonathan again.
"As you wish." Jonathan finally smiled. "Since you are eager to eat, it seems your mood isn't too bad."
