Chapter 117 The Model's Betrayal

Since Elsa was home now, and Luke didn't rush to the office but instead worked from home.

Elsa stayed in the bedroom all morning and didn't come out until noon. Just as Luke was about to take a bowl of dessert upstairs to cheer her up, he saw her descending the stairs, already made up and radiant.

"Honey, are you going to the office with me later?" Elsa opened her arms to Luke at the dining table and threw herself into his embrace.

The Elsa now was a completely different person from the one who had tearfully accused him of disrespect.

Luke wondered whether Elsa had managed to adjust her mood on her own or if she was appeased by his actions.

Elsa said, "Vincent made you spend money again. Once he's better, he must work hard to repay you." Then she kissed Luke.

Luke chuckled. Elsa was actually quite simple. What he needed to do was simply to treat her well.

"I heard you beat up Emily again. Honey, be careful when you go out, because the White family and the Miller family might retaliate," Elsa said.

Luke raised an eyebrow, appreciating Elsa's concern.

That afternoon, Elsa went to the office.

When Elsa reached the 15th floor, Margaret was about to go out. They ran into each other in the elevator lobby.

"Ms. Miller, I see you still remember that you work here. An intern taking a week off at a whim is outrageous," Margaret said, eyeing Elsa up and down with her almond-shaped eyes.

"Didn't you just take a week off for a failed suicide attempt, Manager Collins?" Elsa retorted.

"Elsa, do you think your position as Mrs. Taylor is secure? This is just the beginning. Who knows what will happen in the future?" The elevator arrived, but Margaret didn't get in. She continued to glare at Elsa with a cold expression.

"If it's uncertain, then don't say anything now, so you won't feel embarrassed if it turns out differently from your expectations," Elsa said, not bothering with Margaret, and turned to enter the office.

After a week of absence, many colleagues warmly greeted Elsa.

"Elsa, the competition is coming up. You've been on leave for so long. Do you have an entry?" A girl at the next desk kindly reminded her.

Everyone knew about the tension between Elsa and Margaret. Although the competition was supposed to be open and transparent, Margaret's vote was still very important.

"I'll do my best and leave the rest to fate," Elsa said with a smile.

Among the five original interns, Ava had been somewhat competitive. Now that Ava had been fired, the remaining three were much less skilled than Elsa. As long as no one maliciously sabotaged her, there shouldn't be any problems.

The theme of this competition was 'Mature Girls,' focused on designing an accessory that added a bit of fun to the dull lives of independent women while maintaining a sophisticated style.

During the days she had spent with Vincent in the hospital, Elsa had already come up with a design. Now, sitting at her workstation, she quickly put her thoughts onto paper.

To guard against any potential trouble from Margaret, Elsa was particularly cautious after finishing her sketches. She kept both the physical sketches and the USB drive with the digital copies with her at all times. Fortunately, nothing went wrong until the studio completed her piece and sent it over.

'Margaret has been unusually quiet this time, which is suspicious.' Elsa thought to herself.

The competition day arrived quickly. Elsa and the other three interns waited backstage with their jewelry pieces.

The other interns' models had arrived early, but Elsa's model was missing, and she sensed trouble.

Dalton Banks preferred overseas models and had long-term collaborations with modeling agencies. The four of them just needed to book in advance.

Elsa had chosen a girl with an elegant and mature look, which matched her piece perfectly.

"Where are you, Liya?" Elsa called her model and asked.

With only half an hour left before the start, Liya should have been here already. Arriving half an hour early was a standard rule.

"Almost there, a bit of traffic, but I'm on my way," Liya replied after a brief pause.

With just 15 minutes left, Elsa called again, but this time, Liya's phone was turned off.
