Chapter 452 Warning

"Even if I do something wrong, Lara and Mr. King still won't do anything to me. Can't you see that? You and Ms. Clark are jealous of me, and you're just making yourselves miserable."

Was that true? It seemed like it, but she and Chloe weren't jealous of her. On the contrary, when Elsa heard she had terminal cancer, she felt quite sorry for her for a while. It was only Giselle's later behavior that was truly despicable, that made her start to dislike her.

Elsa just gave a mocking smile, "Ms. Montague thinks we're jealous of you—doesn't that just prove that Ms. Montague is actually jealous of us?"

Giselle was hit right where it hurt by Elsa's words, feeling embarrassed inside.

"So what if I'm jealous? So what if I'm not? I'm a dying person. When I die, I'll be a permanent memory in Lara and Mr. King's hearts. You and Ms. Clark, if you don't die, will have a hard time beating me."

Behind closed doors, when Giselle talked about death, she was no longer scared or sad. Her eyes were full of smugness and contempt.

Everyone in this world had some psychological issues, especially people who had unhappy childhoods.

Elsa knew that her own coldness, difficulty empathizing, and self-harm tendencies were mostly due to childhood trauma.

Giselle's self-pity and inability to stand seeing others happy were probably for the same reason. She could sympathize with Giselle, even occasionally give in to her, but she couldn't let her arrogance grow.

Telling them to go die—to actually say something like that—someone who uses a victim's perspective to morally blackmail the strong was truly scary.

Elsa's malicious intent suddenly rose. She turned back and moved closer to Giselle, saying softly, "Chloe and I don't need to die. I have real blood ties, and Chloe is Jonathan's sweetheart. Why would we need to be dying to get attention like you?"

"Plus, either of us could live well without the King family. But you're different, Ms. Montague. You can only survive by relying on the King family, only by being submissive. You've clearly received so much kindness from the King family, yet you still complain that others get more than you. Your face—only knowing how to take, never knowing gratitude—is really ugly."

Elsa had always been good with words. She usually just didn't bother arguing.

As she ruthlessly humiliated Giselle, she felt a bit sad inside. She'd always looked down on people who used class and status to make their point, hated bullying the weak, yet now facing Giselle, she had to use the tactics she despised most.

What she said cut deep. Sure enough, Giselle's face immediately turned pale.

"Elsa, what are you so proud of? You're just lucky to have the King family's blood in your veins!" She dug her nails into her palms, her body trembling slightly as she said fiercely.

"You're wrong. My vitality means that whether I'm part of the King family or not, I'll live well. But you, Ms. Montague, who can't stand seeing others do well—even if you were the emperor's daughter, you'd still be beneath notice."

"You probably know how I dealt with the Miller family. Whatever dirty tricks you pulled in the past, I'll pretend I forgot, let's wipe the slate clean. But from now on, if you pull any stunts under my nose, don't blame me for being ruthless."

Elsa gave a cold laugh. She didn't want to spare Giselle even one more glance. She dropped these words and left.

On the way, Chloe's call came through, "Did Jonathan lose it again? He's called me from several different numbers this morning!"
