Chapter 50 Divorce

"Bring me your cell phone," Luke suddenly said.

Elsa hurriedly handed over her phone and watched Luke add himself on her Facebook and set special alerts.

"In the future, report in advance if you have plans, and no meeting Jonny alone," Luke said.

Elsa had been relatively honest this time. She had left a note for Lisa to give him. If she hadn't left one, who knows what might have happened.

Just the thought of Elsa being held by Jonny made Luke feel irritated.

"Definitely." Elsa quickly put on a smile.

Luke returned her phone and casually clicked into her Facebook. his expression softened when he saw that she had proudly posted their marriage certificate.

Elsa thought the matter had passed, but the next day, as Luke had just left for work, the steward from the Taylor Family Estate showed up.

"Miss Miller, the old lady requests your presence." He knew about Elsa and Luke's relationship, but he also knew that Debbie didn't accept her as a daughter-in-law, which was why he addressed her as Miss Miller.

Elsa knew that it wasn't good news that Debbie was looking for her. However, she had married into the Taylor family and had to maintain proper etiquette.

"Perhaps I should visit the lady. You should head back first. I'll prepare some gifts and come later," she politely told the steward.

"No need, the lady wants you to come now."

Elsa had no choice but to comply and followed the steward into the car.

The villa was half an hour away from the old mansion. Throughout the journey, Elsa mentally prepared herself. She was calm by nature and didn't care whether Debbie liked or not. Since she was Luke's mother, she just needed to be cautious and not offend her.

When Elsa arrived at the Taylor Family Estate, Debbie was in the living room having tea. When she saw Elsa approaching, she didn't even lift her eyes to see her.

"I heard you tricked Luke into getting married with you?"

She showed no intention of asking Elsa to sit down, so Elsa stood calmly in front of Debbie.

"It wasn't a trick. As you know, no one in this world could be smart enough to trick Luke." She spoke the truth. Even though she had schemed, everything was out in the open.

"Good to know!" Debbie snorted. "I'll give you a chance. If you divorce Luke within three days, I won't pursue what you've done. Otherwise, I won't show you any mercy!"

She slammed her coffee cup on the table, splashing coffee around.

"Mrs. Harrison, I won't divorce him."

Elsa had been pushed to the brink by Phyllis Langley and her daughter once before, so she was unfazed by Debbie's threats. Her gaze toward Debbie remained calm and composed.

"Elsa, have you made up your mind?" Debbie pressed.

"Of course."

"Alright, then what about this?" Debbie threw a stack of photos heavily at Elsa's face, scattering them on the floor.

Elsa didn't get angry. She silently picked up the photos one by one from the ground.

They were photos of Jonny holding her at the nightclub from the night before, taken from various angles to ensure Debbie could see them clearly.

"I couldn't control my intoxicated friend, but I swear to God that there's not an ounce of love between us." Elsa collected the photos and placed them back near Debbie.

There was no need to ask, Karen must have taken them. Elsa had felt that something had been off these past few days, and now she knew someone had followed her!

"Elsa, the Taylor family is a noble family in Maplewood City with a long history! Women from the Taylor family who dare to have such contact with strangers will face the family's punishment. Are you sure you won't get a divorce?"

Elsa's calm and guilt-free demeanor further irritated Debbie, who had brought up family punishment.
