Chapter 297 Injured
"Elsa, you're lying." Luke pressed forward, pinning Elsa against the wall behind her.
It had been less than half an hour since he received Jasmine's call. Elsa's clothes were intact, her expression indifferent, and there was no unusual smell in the room. He could tell Elsa hadn't been with Jonny before seeing him.
"Luke, I'm surprised that you're as stupid as Jasmine." Elsa crossed her arms nonchalantly, a mocking look on her face.
Luke felt like a bucket of cold water had been poured over him, calming him down.
His intelligence had been consumed by jealousy before he came over. He was so flustered that he came to her apartment in his pajamas, and for a moment, Luke felt a bit embarrassed.
"Get out!"
Taking advantage of Luke's distraction, Elsa pushed him out the door with a fierce shove.
"Elsa!" Luke wasn't one to give in so easily. In a moment, he reached out before the security door could close.
His hand got caught in the door, and Luke let out a muffled groan, his face instantly turning pale.
"Are you crazy?" Elsa instantly opened the door, and Luke didn't miss the flash of panic in Elsa's eyes.
"Don't be scared, honey. It's okay." Seeing the panic in Elsa's eyes, Luke, who had been agitated for many days, unexpectedly calmed down. He loosely clenched his fist and smiled to comfort her.
Elsa grabbed his hand to check. His palm was bruised, and the entire hand was swelling visibly, likely a bone injury.
"Luke, are you out of your mind? Didn't you know to dodge when I was closing the door?" Elsa, already in a bad mood these past few days, was now even more furious.
She went inside to get her phone, intending to call the hospital.
Luke didn't give her the chance, holding her tightly. "Elsa, you still love me, don't you?"
These words were meaningless. Elsa felt both painful and nervous. Seeing Luke's rapidly swelling hand, Elsa felt heart-broken, and her anger subsided. She could only patiently persuade him, "Your hand is probably broken. Let's go to the hospital first."
"Come back to me, and I'll go to the hospital." Luke's arms held Elsa tightly.
Elsa sighed. "Luke, you know my temper. I admit I still have some feelings for you, but what's the point of saying this? Our relationship was wrong from the start. Can't you just let go of me, considering I've done some things for you? Besides, haven't you already gone public with Margaret?"
The immense physical and emotional pain made Luke selectively hear only the latter part of her words.
Elsa had clearly seen the headlines about Margaret and was bothered by it. This realization made Luke's heart race.
"We didn't go public. If you come back, I'll handle it." Large drops of cold sweat rolled down Luke's forehead, falling on Elsa's neck.
He was trembling slightly from the pain but still held Elsa, gently coaxing her.
"What if I don't come back?"
Was the headline a test for her? Elsa felt inexplicably repulsed and pushed Luke away.
"Elsa, do you know how many women in Maplewood City want to marry me?" Luke's patience had reached its limit, and he was a bit annoyed. "I said I'd handle the headlines and give you a satisfactory explanation!"
"No need. Most of it is true. Moreover, how many people want to marry you and your relationship with Margaret have nothing to do with me," Elsa tried to steady her mind and spoke calmly.
She believed Luke's explanation. But the Taylor Group had made such a choice. No matter how innocent Luke was, he was still the CEO of the Taylor Group.
If she were to handle this matter, she would make the same choice as the Taylor Group. But being pushed out by the Taylor Group like this made her angry.
As for Margaret's matter, Elsa couldn't want to separate from Luke and still stop him from finding someone else.
Luke's hand was swollen like a bun, his lips were tightly pressed, and his whole body trembled slightly.
He must be in so much pain. Elsa unconsciously clenched her fist, her heart aching.
However, she couldn't soften her heart now.
"We shouldn't see each other anymore." She hardened her heart, forcing herself to turn back.
"Elsa."
Luke wanted to explain something, but he had no chance.
The security door closed in front of him, and Luke looked at it, smiling helplessly.
The Elsa he loved would never be swayed by emotions and always made the most rational choices.
