Chapter 44 Walking Back

"Stop the car," Luke suddenly said.

"What did you say?" Max's brain momentarily froze, not understanding the boss's instruction.

"This car is also mine. Since you don't want to take advantage of me, Miss Miller, just walk back!" Luke said coldly.

Max was momentarily stunned, feeling very awkward.

Luke was angry now. But letting the just-recovered Elsa walk back would surely make Luke regretful once his anger subsided!

But not stopping the car was also a bit disrespectful to the boss.

"Boss, she's just being straightforward." While waiting at the red light, he quickly turned around to explain, but the second half of his sentence was scared away by Luke's sharp gaze.

"It's okay, Max, just pull over. I'll walk back myself." Unable to stand the pressure in the car, Elsa decided to get out first. She could always take a taxi back.

"Remember, I need to see you before 1pm. If you dare to sneak away or take a taxi halfway, I will invest in the Miller family and take the Miller family public." Luke said to Elsa's departing figure.

Elsa paused, shrugged her shoulders, but still turned back with a smile, "Got it."

'She started to pretend again!' Luke thought.

Luke abruptly closed the car door. He was afraid that Elsa would make him live ten years less, so it was best not to see her now!

On the first day of their marriage, Luke left Elsa on the roadside like this.

Elsa sighed quietly. Luke's thoughts were truly unpredictable, smiling one moment and getting angry the next.

Although it was already early autumn, the noon sun was still strong. Elsa, wearing 7-inch high heels, needed to walk to the villa. She wanted to cry by the roadside but had no tears.

She didn't know why Luke was upset again. All her prenuptial agreements were considering his interests. Even in the event of a divorce, she would leave with nothing, so he should be satisfied.

The intersection where Elsa was dropped off was 3 miles from the villa. It would take her over 20 minutes to run in flat shoes, let alone walking back in high heels. It was unbearable to think about.

Forget it, they had a long time together in the future. It was best not to argue on the first day. Elsa gritted her teeth and began her painful journey on foot.

After walking for about 10 minutes, her feet hurt so much that she couldn't walk. She had to take off her high heels and carry them in her hand, thinking of finding a store to buy a pair of sandals.

However, Luke's villa was halfway up the southern mountainside, far from the city center. There were no stores in sight.

Eventually, Elsa simply sat on a stone by the roadside.

There was still over an hour until 1pm, so she wasn't in a rush anymore.

A red Porsche 911 parked by the roadside, and Jonny leaned out.

"Elsa, what are you doing here? Where are you going?"

"Jonny!" Elsa saw Jonny and quickly stood up to greet him.

She was about to ask for help, but then remembered Luke's threat, so she just smiled and said, "It's okay. I was just waiting for someone."

"You're waiting for someone here?" Jonny looked around, knowing that Luke's luxurious villa was just two miles ahead.

"Yeah, you go on with your business, see you later." Elsa didn't know how to explain this complicated situation, so she just gave a flippant reply.

"Are you waiting for Luke?" Jonny finally couldn't help but ask.

Elsa thought for a moment, "Sort of."

In that moment, she seemed to see a wounded look in Jonny's eyes.

Elsa's seductive charm was superficial, and she knew little about romantic relationships. She wasn't sure if Jonny liked her. But whether he did or not made no difference. She couldn't be with him.

So, Elsa smiled apologetically.
