Chapter 54 Luke's First Love in His Life

Chloe sat in the reception room, waiting until eleven o'clock at night, drinking her third cup of coffee, before Terry finished his work and came over.
"Why couldn't you say everything over the phone? Why did you have to come all the way here late at night?"
Terry rubbed Chloe's head and sat across from her. Terry was the future spokesperson of the family and the busiest among the siblings. Although they were cousins, it was common for him and Chloe to not see each other for months.
"I came to talk to you about Elsa and Luke."
Chloe also mentioned that the marketing draft she had helped Elsa send out had been intercepted by her brother, and that was how she found out that Terry and Luke were close.
"What does she want now?" Terry had only met Elsa a few times, but he held deep prejudices against her.
In his eyes, Elsa was scheming, cold, and ruthless in achieving her goals, so he became more alert when Chloe brought her up.
"She doesn't want anything. I just found out some news. Margaret has returned to the country."
There was a few years between Chloe and Luke. They had studied at the same prestigious school, but were not familiar with each other. However, Luke's past with Margaret was well-known in high society circles.
When Margaret got married, Luke had just taken over the Taylo Incorporation group. He spent over thirty million at an auction to buy a diamond leopard print bracelet as a wedding gift for her. It was said to be a token of love given by a medieval king to his queen, and caused quite a stir.
Later, Chloe had seen Margaret on TV a few times. Whenever she appeared in public, she wore that bracelet.
If it were any other woman, she wouldn't have thought much of it, but now that Margaret had returned, Elsa's position was in jeopardy.
Terry was Luke's good friend, so he probably understood Luke's intentions better. And Chloe had realized this and come to the company to confront him late at night.
"Margaret is back? She didn't even tell me." Terry's eyes flickered with a hint of disappointment, but he remained composed.
"Are you worried about Elsa's position?"
"Yes, after all, she has worked hard to get to this position today." Chloe was focused on Elsa and didn't notice her brother's unusual behavior.
"She hasn't put in any effort." Terry sneered, "She just stripped, climbed into a man's bed, and broke up an engagement. That was hardly effort."
"You don't understand Elsa. She's a really good person. She must have her reasons for doing that!" Chloe hurriedly explained. She couldn't stand Terry speaking ill of her best friend.
"Why did you come to meet me then?" Terry couldn't be bothered to argue with her. Elsa had a way of enchanting people. They all fell under her spell, Luke and his own sister included.
"I want to know if the relationship between Luke and Margaret is a rumor."
"If a man spends over thirty million just to make a woman smile, he's definitely interested," Terry replied.
"That's true." Chloe felt a bit disheartened.
"They haven't been together, but Luke's feelings for Margaret are real. She was the first woman he has ever loved."
It was midnight, but Luke still hadn't returned.
"Elsa, I'm going to find out what happened." Chloe sent a long voice message to Elsa on Facebook, objectively recounting the past between Luke and Margaret.
In the end, Chloe said, "I thought I should tell you, just so you're prepared. Of course, that's all in the past now. Men get tired of old loves, and maybe your presence has already made Luke forget about Margaret.
"Elsa, you don't love him, right? This won't affect your mood, will it?"
"Of course not," Elsa replied hastily.
