Chapter 389 I Want to Pursue You Again

Elsa didn't expect Luke to wake up so suddenly, and she felt a bit embarrassed.

She turned her head away, and his kiss landed on her cheek.

"Why'd you wake up so fast?" Her eyes happened to fall on his right ear. Was that an earring hole? She remembered Luke didn't have one before. Why would he get one now?

So Elsa leaned closer to Luke's ear to take a better look.

"What's this about? When'd you get your ear pierced?"

"A month after we got back from the plains."

After returning from the plains, Elsa suddenly thought of the ethnic-style earrings she had designed.

"Because of those earrings?"

"Weren't they designed for me?" Luke asked, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

Not exactly, Elsa thought, and mumbled, "So full of yourself."

Luke pretended not to hear her, pulled her into his arms, and held her chin so their eyes met. "I'm gonna start courting you again, starting today."

It wasn't the first time he had said something like that, but this time, Luke felt inexplicably confident.

"I still need to finish my studies," Elsa said, stating the obvious. Her attitude had clearly softened.

"Alright. I'll wait for you." Luke pecked her lips again.

"I still have over a year to go. Who knows what might happen?"

"It doesn't matter."

What Elsa didn't know was that in the past six months, Luke had expanded his business empire to Novaria, and his wealth was now immeasurable.

Both were good at making money but not so good at relationships. They really were a perfect match.

And ever since Elsa had saved Debbie, she had been strongly advocating for their reconciliation, asking about it many times, both openly and subtly.

"You didn't cherish Elsa when she was your daughter-in-law. Now it's too late to regret it."

Luke would respond, but deep down, he wanted Elsa back more than anyone.

The day after returning from the King Villa, Elsa received a call from Lara.

"Let's go get our nails done, Elsa." Lara's invitation was warm, and it was an activity young women would enjoy, so Elsa had no reason to refuse.

The two of them went to a nail salon in the mall and handed their hands over to the nail technicians.

"You're removing this manicure already? It hasn't been that long," the nail technician asked, surprised.

"Yeah," Lara replied, not showing any embarrassment despite being caught.

Elsa pretended not to notice and closed her eyes slightly, chatting with her.

"If you ever get bored, you can always call me." Elsa guessed that Lara didn't have many friends in Maplewood City and was looking for an excuse to hang out.

"How about we schedule a spa day this Saturday?" Lara suggested quickly.

"I'm visiting my brother on Saturday. How about Sunday?"

"I'll go with you to see your brother," Lara responded swiftly.

If Lara weren't a 70-year-old woman and a friend's mother, Elsa might have suspected she had ulterior motives.

Wasn't she fond of Chloe? Yet she hadn't contacted Chloe at all, which puzzled Elsa.

After their manicures, they went to eat at the mall.

Lara's eyes were fixed on Elsa, as if she couldn't get enough of looking at her.

"You really like seafood soup. Does your mom like it too?" Lara asked, noticing Elsa's preference.

Elsa realized that Lara seemed particularly interested in details about her mother, Leslie.

She put down her spoon and answered honestly, "My mom rarely showed any preferences. Life was too hard for her. Ever since I can remember, she was always busy. I hardly ever saw her smile."
