Chapter 174 Luke, hurry up!
'No way, they got guns!' Elsa thought, panic setting in.
She was smacked so hard that her head spun. All she could think was that she needed to prevent Luke from showing up!
Sean was a loose cannon. If Luke came, getting shaken down would be the least of his worries; he might end up dead.
Landon frisked her and yanked her phone out of her pocket.
"Call him!" He shoved it at her.
Elsa grabbed the phone and chucked it at the door with all her might, hoping to smash it.
"Dammit!" Sean saw what she was up to, snatched Landon's gun, and fired.
She shut her eyes on reflex. The bullet skimmed her ear and thudded into the wall.
The guns had silencers.
Elsa opened her eyes, shaking and still freaked out.
"Are you gonna call or what?!" Landon, seeing Sean's rage, kicked her a few times.
Elsa crumpled, pain ripping through her gut.
"Luke's not coming. If you got the guts, come at me." She even managed a smirk.
"I heard Mrs. Taylor blew through millions after marrying Luke. Didn't know you two were so tight," Sean said, curious.
"Cut the crap. If you got the guts, kill me." Elsa lay on the floor in agony, dead set on not letting Luke take the risk.
Sean gave Landon a look, and he picked up her phone, which had gone dark.
"One more chance. Mrs. Taylor, you really not scared of dying?" Sean slowly loaded the gun, aiming it at her.
Elsa's hair stood on end, but she stayed put, using sheer willpower. Her heart pounded with fear, but she played it cool, ignoring the gun pointed at her.
They locked eyes for five minutes.
Finally, Sean pulled out his phone and called Luke.
He said, "Long time no see, Mr. Taylor. Mrs. Taylor's having a little get-together with us. Wanna join?"
Elsa was in Sean's grip!
Luke's heart skipped a beat. "Where's Elsa?" he asked, ice-cold.
"Here she is. Mrs. Taylor, wanna say a few words to your hubby?" Sean asked, and soon Elsa's voice came through the phone.
"Luke, listen. I married you for my own gain. Once I'm done, I'll divorce you. I'm not a good person. Don't try to rescue me. If you do, you're a fool..."
Before she could finish, Sean cursed and started beating her.
Luke's heart sank.
"Luke, I'll wait for you till 11 o'clock." Sean gave an address. "If you call the cops, I'll kill her on the spot."
"Luke, if you come, you're a fool! I won't think you're good just 'cause you come!" Elsa shouted, "Don't come!"
Her mouth was suddenly covered.
Luke pressed his lips together tightly. Urgently, he messaged Karida and Terry to come with him, then he sped straight to Azure Lake.Elsa stared at the door, frozen, thinking Luke must not come. She couldn't let him walk into such danger!
Of course, Luke knew what she was thinking! But instead of calling for help, she was trying to push him away. Did she think he was too scared to show up?!
Luke drove so fast he got there in two-thirds of the time it took Elsa.
"Wait here." Luke gave everyone a look and walked alone towards the two-story building.
Luke, Karida, and Terry had hidden listening devices on them.
"If there's trouble, just tap once with your fingertip," Karida reminded.
Even though he was ready, Luke was still shocked by the scene inside.
Elsa's face was a mess of grimy wounds, and she was facing a dozen armed men, her eyes blazing with defiance, ready to face death.
His heart ached, but he walked over, lifted her chin with his fingertip, and softly asked, "Does it hurt?"
Elsa's eyes softened for a moment, and she couldn't help but pout. "Are you crazy? Why'd you come?!"
"If I didn't come, would I just watch my wife in danger?" Luke's eyes were filled with tenderness.
Such a look, usually buried deep, was seen by Elsa for the first time, making her heart race.
She suddenly had a nasal tone. "That'd be better than us dying together. Luke, go quickly."
