Chapter 250 Divorce, Right Now!

Elsa's spirits lifted as she said, "Chloe, help me verify this quickly!" Ever since she lost her child, she had been downcast, but now, for the first time, she wore a smile.

Chloe acted swiftly, and before long, she called back. "It's true; it's David. He was instigated by someone and got involved in a batch of fire hydrants, with the case amounting to a billion dollars!"

Elsa was trembling with excitement; she had done it!

"Chloe, I did it! I did it!" She took deep breaths, trying to calm herself, but tears still streamed down her face.

"Yes, you did it!" Chloe's voice was choked with emotion on the other end of the line. Eventually, they both burst into tears.

"Ms. Miller, are you okay? If there's anything bothering you, talk to me." Lisa, following Luke's instructions, would check on her from time to time. Hearing the crying from inside the room, she couldn't help but knock on the door.

"I'm fine, Lisa." After crying for a while, Elsa slowly wiped her tears, but she couldn't calm down. "By the way, who was the other person taken away?" she asked.

"The project manager, named Mark. He was also involved in the smuggling." Chloe said.

Mark, wasn't he the informant Brian had arranged?

Elsa's heart plummeted from the clouds. If Mark went to prison, she might not be able to avoid being implicated.

"What's wrong, Elsa?" Chloe sensed something was off and quickly asked.

"Nothing." Elsa tried to calm herself, her mind racing.

She could not allow Chloe to find out. Chloe was already close to her, and the less she knew, the less likely she would become entangled.

And then there was Luke, who had helped her. She needed to get divorced swiftly, the sooner the better!

Elsa regained her calm demeanor in the face of a major crisis.

However, in the villa, there wasn't so much as a kitchen knife, not even her eyebrow razor. Luke must have had them removed to prevent any possibility of self-harm.

She searched every room and finally found a large nail clipper. A nail clipper might not be very effective, but it would do.

"Luke, what's the point of clinging to this marriage? I've had enough!" Elsa started a video call with him; her first words were an accusation.

She watched as Luke's eyes dimmed, and her heart ached.

"I was wrong. I'll make it up to you." Luke patiently tried to soothe her.

"Make it up? With what? Let me tell you, you can confine my body, but not my heart!" She steeled herself and pressed on, watching Luke's face grow darker.

"It doesn't matter; either a person or their heart must remain by my side." Luke seemed to take a deep breath, steadying his emotions.

"When I needed you, you weren't there. You were off being Margaret's lapdog, and now you turn around and restrict my freedom. Luke, aren't you pathetic?" Elsa shouted.

No wonder they say words can hurt more than a hundred blades. As Elsa berated Luke, she felt the backlash of this double-edged sword, hurting herself deeply.

Luke pressed his lips together, saying nothing. When had Luke ever endured such humiliation? Yet he bore it, letting her vent.

"Are you going to divorce me or not?" Elsa's eyes reddened first.

"I'm not." Luke's voice was firm.

"Fine." Elsa propped her phone on the table, exclaiming, "Then I'll die in front of you."

Elsa raised her wrist in front of Luke, positioning the nail clipper over her artery, closed her eyes, and pressed down hard.

"What are you doing!" Luke's frantic shout came from the other end of the phone.

She had found the right spot; after a few clips, warm blood started to flow.

"Elsa, I'll divorce you right now! Stop!" Even through the phone, she could hear Luke's heart-wrenching cries.

Elsa slowly sat down on the floor, a triumphant smile spreading across her face.
