Chapter 78 Writing a Self-Reflection

They kissed for over 20 minutes until Luke and Elsa finally pulled apart, both gasping for air. Elsa felt like her lips were about to be bitten through by Luke.

"Elsa, do you think with my personality, I would do something as stupid as holding a woman who's about to marry another man and crying all night?" Luke said, his hands pressing against Elsa's waist.

It took Elsa a moment to realize that Luke was explaining himself to her.

Elsa looked up at Luke, somewhat bewildered. She said, "But she said..."

"It's all fake."

"Okay," Elsa said, thinking that such behavior didn't seem like something the cold and domineering Luke would do. "Ms. Collins sure is a great storyteller."

"And you, where's your usual cleverness? You even believed that?"

"Love makes me irrational. I was so heartbroken at the thought of my man holding another woman and crying that I couldn't think of anything else," Elsa said, starting to nuzzle Luke's neck again.

Elsa might be able to fool others, but she couldn't fool Luke.

The more insecure Elsa felt, the more she tried to act like she was in control of everything, like now.

Luke buried his head in Elsa's neck and bit down hard, leaving a deep hickey.

"Elsa Miller, say it again. What did you do wrong?"

"Was it wrong to be angry?"

"You were wronged. It's okay to be angry and to throw a fit," Luke said helplessly.

"Then what did I do wrong?" Elsa's bright black eyes were full of confusion.

"You don't even know what you did wrong, yet you apologized to me first. You really know how to cower under pressure, huh," Luke snorted coldly.

"Then tell me."

"First, in the future, no matter what the problem is, you can't casually put your own life at risk. Secondly, I believed my mother and Margaret Collins not because they are more important to me, but because they communicated with me, and you wouldn't say anything. Elsa Miller, you were almost drowned. Do you know that? If you had told me you were feeling wronged, do you think I would really ignore you?"

"What do you mean?" Elsa looked at Luke blankly for a long time before squeezing out a sentence, "Are you saying that I'm important, too?"

Luke looked at Elsa as if she had a screw loose.

Elsa quickly said, "Of course, I know that I'm very important to you."

Elsa cupped Luke's face and kissed his lips, making Luke's ears suddenly feel a bit hot.

"Thirdly, I don't care if you genuinely care about me in the future. Since you think I'm useful, you should keep me happy."

Luke's words carried a hint of grievance.

Elsa hurriedly leaned in towards Luke, being affectionate and coaxing, "I just narrowly escaped death, and that's why I was feeling fragile and a bit hot-headed. Saying things in the heat of the moment can be forgiven, right? You are really important to me.  Come here and let me give you a kiss."

Elsa kissed Luke all over his face, moving around on his lap as she did so, arousing his desire and leaving him with no anger. But thinking about the long road ahead, Luke resisted the urge and lifted Elsa off his lap.

"Have you had enough?"

"Yes, I'm fine."

"Then go write a 20,000-word reflection on the three things I mentioned, or you can't go to sleep."

"Haven't I just made up with him? Luke is really capricious," Elsa sat in the study, grumbling to herself.

Writing a reflection was no big deal, but to Elsa, it was a waste of time. She had written less than a thousand words and was already feeling sleepy.

Lisa brought some late-night snacks and a thick blanket for Elsa, saying, "Mr. Taylor said to bring you a blanket. You just got out of the hospital. Don't catch a cold."

"If he's so worried about me catching a cold, why won't he let me sleep and insist on me writing a reflection? Don't listen to his fake concern," Elsa said, showing a rare childish side, pouting in complaint.

"Mr. Taylor's visible care for you is not even a tenth of what he does behind the scenes. While you were in the hospital, he didn't smile once. Now that you're back, he comes home early every day."

"Really?"

Elsa didn't even realize it herself, but when she heard Lisa say this, there was a hint of a smile in her eyes.
