Chapter 70 Lung Infection
Elsa stood on the shore, watching Margaret flounder in the lake, her mind racing with thoughts in just half a minute.
'Debbie has always hoped that Luke and Margaret would rekindle their relationship. Even if I can prove my innocence, she will still blame this on me,' Elsa thought.
Moreover, everyone was busy at the birthday party, and there were no witnesses.
If the accusation of Elsa pushing Margaret into the lake were to be proven, not to mention Debbie, Luke wouldn't let her off the hook either. After all, he and Margaret shared a bond strong enough to cry in each other's arms all night long. This realization left Elsa with a momentary sense of unease.
Elsa thought, 'Perhaps I should also jump in. I can use Margaret's method against her and make things more complicated.'
Elsa felt helpless that she had to prove her innocence in such a way.
Meanwhile, Margaret was still shouting. Without thinking further, Elsa quickly took a leap into the water.
"Ms. Collins, don't be afraid. I'm here to save you!" Elsa shouted, deliberately floundering a bit near Margaret before sinking underwater.
Elsa couldn't swim, but this was the best solution she could think of. She now only prayed that someone would find her before she drowned.
"Sis-in-law fell into the water! Save her quickly!"
Elsa was sinking rapidly, water filling her ears and nose. She could barely hear, but she seemed to hear Nathan's voice.
Elsa opened her mouth to call for help, but a large amount of lake water rushed in, causing her chest to ache intensely as she gradually lost consciousness.
Valley of Hope Hospital.
Luke stood by the bedside of the unconscious Elsa, his face dark with anger.
'While I was meeting a guest, Elsa jumped into the water! If my little cousin Nathan hadn't discovered her in time, she would probably be dead by now!' Luke thought.
Nathan was so frightened that he cried heavily. He was then taken home by his parents.
'Debbie's birthday party was completely ruined. What was Elsa thinking? 'Luke thought.
"Son, Elsa is not someone we can keep around! If Margaret hadn't been discovered in time, she would have been killed by her!" Debbie's call came in, full of anger.
"Is that what Margaret said?"
"Margaret said she just wanted to tell Elsa to cherish you. Who knew Elsa would be jealous of Margaret, pull her into the water, and try to die together with her? Elsa is a lunatic! Son, you can't be with her..." Debbie's words were cut off as Luke hung up.
With Elsa's life hanging in the balance, Luke didn't want to hear Debbie badmouthing her.
'But dragging someone down with her is very much in line with Elsa's style!' Luke thought.
Luke thought, 'I even bought the pink diamond bracelet for Elsa. Isn't that enough for her? On the surface, she seemed to want to give me up to Margaret, but in reality, she is so ruthless!?'
Looking at Elsa's pale, almost translucent face, Luke could hardly contain his anger.
Karida came over with the diagnosis report, her expression saying, "See, I told you this troublesome woman wasn't worth marrying."
"She has a lung infection and needs to be hospitalized for observation."
Luke remained silent, his face dark as a stormy sky.
"She jumped into the lake at your mother's birthday party? She really has some nerve," Karida couldn't help but comment.
"And she did it while holding onto Margaret," Luke's tone was heavy.
"That sounds like something Elsa Miller would do," Karida agreed with Luke.
"You know, Terry Clark and I both think that with Elsa's extreme personality, if she were betrayed by the one she loves, she'd kill him and smear his blood on her rival's door."
"Her actions suggest she might be in love with you. So you're in danger." A hint of mockery flashed in Karida's eyes as she tossed the diagnosis report and walked away.
