Chapter 79 Manager Collins
Elsa's twenty-thousand-word self-reflection was never finished and she fell asleep. She didn't even know when Luke carried her back to the room.
Since he had not seen her for many days, Luke really missed Elsa. But seeing her sleep so soundly for the first time, he couldn't bear to wake her. He half-embraced her, changed her into a nightgown, and tucked her into the blanket.
"You little rascal. Don't make me angry again," Luke whispered, gently nibbling Elsa's earlobe before bed.
Elsa, half-asleep, only felt her ear itch, and she couldn't help but shrink back, burrowing into Luke's arms.
The next morning, when Luke woke up, his arms were already empty.
When Luke went downstairs after getting ready, Elsa was already sitting on the sofa in a charcoal gray business suit. Luke understood her intention.
"You're going to work today? You just got out of the hospital, so don't you want to rest for a couple of days?"
"No, I'm already fine," Elsa said, her eyes bright as she looked at Luke.
After a serious illness, Elsa had lost some weight, her jawline becoming extremely sharp, making her eyes look even more captivating.
Elsa lived frugally and rarely bought anything, but she had plenty of nice clothes. Of course, it could also be that she was so good-looking that every piece of clothing looked stylish on her.
Elsa's business suit was very conservative, with the skirt length extending past her knees. She wore white pointed high heels, and the exposed part of her calf was as white and smooth as a washed lotus root.
Luke's throat tightened and he suddenly asked, "How much do you weigh?"
"Around 88 pounds. I haven't weighed myself in a while."
Strangely enough, Elsa was slender and delicate, but she didn't look bony. Instead, she had curves where she should and no extra flesh where she shouldn't.
'Eighty-eight pounds is too thin. She needs to gain some weight,' Luke thought.
"Then I'll head over first." At the CEO's private elevator, Elsa waved goodbye to Luke and turned to the employee elevator.
Luke watched her charming figure, wanting to call her to go up together, but he didn't say anything in the end.
The design department of Dalton Banks was where Elsa had always longed to work at. She walked through the company doors with excitement.
"Hello, I'm Elsa Miller, here for an internship." On the 15th floor, Elsa first went to the Human Resources office to introduce herself.
Apparently, someone had given special instructions from above. The HR girl was very enthusiastic, quickly helping Elsa complete the internship procedures and leading her to the design team.
Everything was simple and smooth until...
"Let me introduce you. This is Margaret Collins, the head of our design department. Manager Collins, this is the new intern Elsa Miller." The HR girl enthusiastically introduced Elsa to her future direct supervisor, not noticing the smile on Elsa's face gradually collapsing.
Great! No wonder Luke wanted Elsa to work at Dalton Banks!
Elsa had naively thought Luke was afraid her talent in jewelry design would be buried! Looking at the devilish Margaret in front of her, Elsa felt tight in her chest.
"Nice to see you again, Ms. Miller," Margaret said, arms crossed, with a confident smile.
“I believe you're not surprised by this, Ms. Collins,” Elsa said. She was the only one kept in the dark!
"Of course. But given my relationship with the Taylor family, coming to Dalton Banks to lead a team was a natural progression. I hope you will cooperate, Ms. Miller."
"Of course."
The HR person hadn't expected Elsa and Margaret to know each other. Seeing the tense aura between them, she realized something was off.
"You two know each other?"
"We are more than just acquaintances. If it weren't for Manager Collins, I could have started working three weeks ago," Elsa said, glancing at Margaret before walking to the workstation arranged by the HR.
