Chapter 255 Encountering Jasmine
After the divorce, Elsa decided to live without Luke.
She was hiding out in Chloe's small apartment to recover.
David and Mark were still in custody. It was uncertain when their trial would be.
With Mark's arrest, she didn't dare contact Brian, fearing that any message or call might be monitored and used against her.
She was prepared to go to jail at any time.
With Chloe and Jonathan around, Vincent would be fine even without her.
While recovering, Elsa was anxious. A week had passed, and there was still no news.
She had submitted her resignation to Dalton Banks. It wouldn't make sense to stay under Luke's watchful eye after the divorce.
She was preparing for going to the jail while also hoping she might get through this unscathed.
If she was lucky enough to be spared by fate, she planned to continue her unfinished studies abroad.
Surprisingly, Luke and she had been out of contact for a week since they parted ways at the Marriage License Bureau.
Elsa couldn't help but shake her head in self-mockery. Luke might have already found a new lover by now.
After a week with no new developments in the smuggling case and her body mostly recovered, Elsa went out as usual.
She had an appointment with a real estate agent to discuss the resale of the office building, hoping to sell it quickly.
Elsa met the agent at a coffee shop. The agent was thrilled to be the exclusive sale of the entire building and promised to sell it quickly.
The agent soon left happily with the exclusive contract.
Elsa finished her espresso, feeling a deep longing for the taste. She hadn't had coffee in four months due to preparing for pregnancy, being pregnant, and then miscarrying.
Thinking about her days as a mother felt like a dream. Now, she was alone again.
She ordered another espresso to sip slowly.
"Isn't that Elsa? I thought it would take a lot more effort to get you out of the Taylor family!" a haughty female voice said. It was Jasmine.
Surrounded by a group of girls, Jasmine saw Elsa and couldn't resist taunting her.
"Ms. Taylor, please keep a three-meter distance from me." Elsa calmly reminded her.
"You used to act all high and mighty because you were pregnant with a Taylor family child. Now you still think you're so important?" Jasmine and the girls laughed mockingly.
The child was the most painful thing for Elsa.
Her heart ached, but she remained expressionless. "Ms. Taylor, if you have any insults for me, you'd better say them all today. Otherwise, if I become Jonny's wife tomorrow, you might not have a place to cry!"
Finishing her coffee in one gulp, Elsa stood up to leave. 'What bad luck, running into Jasmine right after stepping out.' She thought, exasperated.
"Bitch!" Jasmine blocked her way. "Don't think you can seduce Jonny!"
"Jonny and I are innocent. I used to think you were somewhat attractive with a wealthy background, and I couldn't understand why Jonny didn't like you." Elsa smirked.
Elsa continued. "Now, I understand completely."
"What do you understand?" Jasmine was infuriated by her disdainful expression.
"Because you're someone who acts without thinking, and is very stupid." Elsa sneered and was about to walk past her.
"Stop right there! How dare you talk to me like that!" One of the girls with Jasmine grabbed Elsa's clothes.
