Chapter 81 Can I Not Forgive?

"What are you doing?"

Elsa was shoved into the car by Luke, fuming with anger.

"Let's have a meal together and clear the air," Luke said simply, then personally drove to a five-star hotel.

Karida, Terry, and Margaret were already waiting in a private room. Luke half-dragged and half-carried Elsa inside.

"What is this supposed to mean?" Elsa asked, her face dark.

"Since you're married to me, you're my woman now. These three people here have been my best friends since childhood. No matter what misunderstandings you have, let's clear them up today. You are all the people closest to me, and I don't want any grudges between us," Luke said, forcefully seating Elsa next to him.

"Let me be clear. I have no misunderstandings with Elsa Miller. She's a patient at our hospital, and we get along very well." Karida said, noticing Elsa's displeased expression and quickly moving closer to show goodwill.

Elsa, who was already quite grateful to Karida, nodded amicably.

"Well, I'll go first," Margaret said, putting away her previously tense demeanor, transforming back into her usual innocent and pitiful appearance.

"That day, I fell into the water and was disoriented. After arguing with Ms. Miller, I impulsively said that Ms. Miller pushed me. I did it only because I like Luke so much," Margaret said, starting to tear up again.

If Elsa hadn't witnessed Margaret's arrogant behavior by the lake, she might have thought she was being petty for not forgiving Margaret. But at this moment, Elsa just wanted to laugh.

Seeing Elsa's cold smile, Margaret cried even harder.

"Ms. Miller, I would like to raise a toast to you. Can you forgive me? After all, I've grown up with Luke, and we'll be working together in the future."

Even at this moment, she didn't forget to say something to make herself seem innocent. Elsa thought Luke's taste was really poor. Both Karen and Margaret were the same kind of people.

Elsa just crossed her arms and said nothing, not touching the glass Margaret held up.

"I've also wronged you in many ways, and I apologize," Terry said reluctantly, without Margaret's finesse in choosing words. "But now that you're married to Luke, I hope you can be sincere with him and not keep your distance."

Terry downed his drink in one gulp, and everyone stared at Elsa.

"What does it matter if I keep my distance from Luke? It seems like you four are the ones in cahoots, planning this in advance to corner me. If I don't drink this, then I'm the petty and unreasonable one, right?"

Elsa's voice wasn't loud, but it was firm and carried a sense of sorrow.

"Can I choose not to forgive? Do I have that right? If I do, I don't want to drink."

She directed this question at Luke.

"Elsa, you're my wife. I hope my friends can accept you too," Luke said. Elsa's cold tone made Luke frown. She always spoke like this when she wanted to keep people at a distance.

"Luke, have I ever done anything to harm these two?" Elsa stood up, looking down at Luke.

Luke, Karida, Terry, and Margaret all fell silent.

"Being disliked for no reason and then being forced to forgive, you really have the airs of high society." Elsa had gone to work at her dream place with an excited heart today, but then she felt frustrated because of Margaret. She was already feeling extremely dejected, and now being forced to meet people she didn't want to see, Elsa felt her patience had reached its limit.

Luke's heart ached at the sight of Elsa's sorrowful expression.

Just as Luke was about to speak, Terry said, "Elsa, you don't have to accept the apology. But don't forget that you used those means to get into Luke's bed and forced him to marry you. Have you forgotten that?"

Luke and Karida were both stunned by Terry's bluntness.

'Why say something so hurtful to Elsa at this moment!' Luke thought.
