Chapter 353 The Steed and the Electrocardiogram
Ian's resignation was unexpected. Many citizens who were not attuned to the news didn't even know that Maplewood City had changed mayors twice in four months.
"Was it you who did it?" Elsa had been scrolling through the news on her phone with a blank expression for a long time before she suddenly asked.
Luke neither confirmed nor denied.
Ian's situation originally had nothing to do with him, but Ian overestimated his abilities and threatened Luke.
Ian dared to force Hailey on him, so he used Hailey to get some useful information. It was just a convenient move.
Others might tolerate a report, but when Luke personally intervened, who would dare not to give him some face?
This statement was almost an admission. So, Elsa stopped asking questions.
She looked at Luke with a sudden sense of fear. This was the real him, a true leader, someone who could shatter the world and create a new one if he was dissatisfied.
His tenderness and meticulousness towards her were only because he loved her. This love was fine for now, but if it ever disappeared, Elsa and Vincent would be nothing more than ants in front of Luke.
Seeing that Elsa didn't continue to ask, Luke was puzzled. Looking at Elsa's suddenly serious face, he immediately understood.
Could Elsa be scared?
Luke chuckled softly and lifted her chin with his long fingers, making their eyes level.
"I only treat outsiders like that, not my own people."
He had let Elsa have her way for so long, didn't she have that confidence yet?
Elsa wanted to say she wasn't one of his own, but felt it was meaningless, so she pressed her lips together and remained silent.
She and Luke were people from two different worlds. To have a truly equal conversation, she could only move further away, climb higher, and reach the true peak.
But those were matters for the future. For now, she just wanted to do what she needed to do, finish her studies.
The steel plate in her body would have to be removed a year later. Elsa stayed in the hospital for more than half a month. Feeling better, she ignored the hospital's advice and directly went through the discharge procedures.
The first thing she did after being discharged was to formally resign from her job with Leo.
This time, Leo didn't try to persuade her to stay. He signed the papers readily but couldn't help asking, "You're not going to continue with your prairie jewelry design?"
"I actually came up with a design draft in the hospital. I can give it to you as a reference." Elsa had thought about this issue. But since the resignation couldn't be delayed any longer, she didn't want to take the copyright fee. She might as well give the design draft to Leo as a favor.
"Send it to me. If it's selected, you'll be paid as usual." Leo was generous.
Elsa's eyes lit up. "Really?"
Leo was amused by her expression. "It might not be selected. I'm always picky."
Despite his words, Elsa sent her design draft to Leo's email on the day she resigned.
It was a single men's earring.
A long silver tassel chain hung from the ear to the shoulder. The tassel was made up of four chains, with two in the middle ending in an abstract horse. It was abstract because it was just an outline of a galloping horse. Below the horse's hooves was a zigzag line, connecting to the outer two tassel chains. On the zigzag line was a tiny dot, representing a restless, burning heart.
The zigzag line looked like overlapping peaks or an electrocardiogram.
A galloping horse on an electrocardiogram line—that was Elsa's understanding of the prairie.
"Out of so many people, you were the most touched." Leo snorted. He didn't need to ask Elsa where her inspiration came from; it was naturally related to Luke.
"What do you think?" Elsa neither confirmed nor denied, but asked him back.
Now, when she thought of the prairie, all she could think of was Luke galloping on horseback and his strong, powerful heartbeat. There were no other memories.
"Let's make a prototype first." Leo's answer was ambiguous.
In fact, he was amazed the moment he saw the draft. When the finished product was circulated in the design department, everyone praised it highly.
Other people's jewelry designs were vibrant colors, local materials, and local religious beliefs. They were beautiful, but upon closer inspection, they were all external understandings of the prairie, not necessarily the prairie itself.
"Elsa is the second genius after Leo." The design director couldn't put down Elsa's work.
Leo's eyes were deep, and he said nothing. He had a feeling that Elsa's earring design would be a big hit.
Who would have thought that the first big-selling piece from LEO Gems Company here would be inspired by his half-brother Luke?
