Chapter 278 Where Did You Get the Money
"Elsa, do you think I've never bought a bag before and I don't understand these things?" Margaret was so amused by Elsa's casual lie that she almost laughed angrily.
"Really? Luke told me that. I'm just an ordinary girl who doesn't understand these things. Maybe you should just buy new ones." Elsa showed an awkward expression and was about to put the items away.
"I'll give you $2 million, and you make a net profit of $300,000." Margaret gritted her teeth.
Elsa shook her head. "Forget it, Ms. Collins. I'm not selling. You might as well buy new ones."
Margaret had her reasons for buying these bags. She pondered for a moment. Seeing that Elsa wasn't budging, she gritted her teeth. "Elsa, you win."
In just a few minutes, all the bags were transferred to Margaret. Elsa saw the payment notification and raised an eyebrow in satisfaction.
Margaret had someone load the items into her car and walked away arrogantly. The intermediaries looked at Elsa with eyes full of admiration.
"Ms. Miller, you are truly a negotiation expert!"
Elsa swiped her card to pay the handling fee.
The intermediaries said, "Ms. Miller, if you have more luxury items in the future, feel free to consign them here."
"There won't be any more. But if you pay well enough, I might consider working here."
"You must be joking."
"I'm serious."
"Margaret, you were in such a hurry to find me. What's up?" In the underground parking lot of the Taylor Group, Luke arrived at Margaret's car as agreed.
Recently, he had been overwhelmed by the divorce matter, and it suddenly occurred to Luke that Margaret hadn't appeared in front of him for a long time.
"Luke, I want to show you something." Margaret said, opening her trunk.
Having just come from the second-hand luxury store, she couldn't wait to find Luke to tell him how Elsa had trampled on his sincerity and how she had bought it back at a high price.
"Elsa sold these right after the divorce. I couldn't bear to see your feelings ruined like this, so I bought them back at a high price. Luke, her actions show that she only cares about profit!"
Margaret pointed at the trunk, accusing Elsa of her misdeeds. Luke's eyelid twitched.
"Margaret, how much did you spend?"
"$3 million," Margaret said, then immediately added shyly, "Am I stupid? I was willing to pay almost double the price for these. But Luke, my feelings for you are real."
Luke didn't hear the rest of her words.
"You are a bit stupid."
Margaret looked at him, feeling puzzled.
"Because these bags are Elsa's own, not gifts from me." Luke tried hard to suppress his laughter as he explained to Margaret.
She hadn't bothered to argue with Margaret before because she was too busy with her own revenge.
If she really wanted to fight with others, Margaret couldn't be her match.
However, the fact that she thought of selling the bags to Margaret might mean she was jealous. Thinking this, Luke felt unexpectedly good.
"I need to get back to the office. There's something urgent I need to handle. Drive safely." Luke said, returning to the 16th floor under Margaret's stunned gaze.
Max was waiting in the office.
"Do you have something to report?" Luke asked.
"Ms. Miller's side sent a message. They said Ms. Miller sold all the bags and made over $1 million in profit." Max reported honestly.
Luke glanced at him. "With your speed of gathering information, you'd be fired if you worked in the intelligence agency. Guess who Elsa sold the bags to?"
Max was a bit confused.
Luke revealed the answer. "Margaret."
Max could understand Elsa selling at a high price, but why would Margaret be willing to buy these bags?
He looked at Luke but didn't dare to ask. However, Luke's expression seemed quite good.
But Luke didn't stay happy for long. Early the next morning, a message popped up on his phone: [I transferred another $3 million to your account. I still owe you $57 million.]
The message was cold without any emotion, and Luke couldn't discern the tone.
Luke asked, knowing the answer:[Where did you get the money?]
[I used the name of Luke's ex-wife to work as a hostess. The market is really good.]
All the blood in Luke's body rushed to his head, and he felt like he was about to die of anger.
[Send me your location. I'll come to support your business.]
[Sure, but you'll have to wait in line. My schedule is full for the next three days. Are you willing to wait?]
Indeed, Elsa knew a hundred ways to infuriate him. Luke was so angry that he smashed his phone.
At that moment, Elsa was on her way to an interview because Leo had returned to the country.
