Chapter 388 Paternity Test

This story brought back some painful memories.

Lara, who was pregnant at the time, only found out that Jonathan's father, Dale, had another woman when someone showed up at her door with a child.

Proud as she was, this was something she could never tolerate.

Meanwhile, Dale, who was fooling around outside, was also infatuated with Lara's beauty and the business advantages she brought. He dragged out their divorce for half a year.

"You weren't my first child. You have an older sister, three years older than you, named Joanna King. Dale sent her to live with relatives to control me. Not long after, they said she drowned in a river."

Lara's voice was thick with sorrow. "When you were born, I had already lost Joanna, so I never told you."

Jonathan was stunned for a long time before he found his voice. "Do you think Joanna might still be alive?"

"Someone like Dale, who would lie about a child's death to keep me from seeing her, could definitely do that. Especially when he was under Delphine Waverly's influence. Who knows what he was capable of?"

"Jonathan, do you believe in the intuition of blood relatives? The first time I saw Elsa, I felt something different. I like Chloe too, but it's not the same as with Elsa."

Lara leaned back on the sofa in the study, her eyes vacant for a long time, murmuring.

Unfortunately, Dale was now in a vegetative state, so there was no way to get answers from him.

"To be honest, the first time I saw Elsa, I felt a sense of familiarity too. Even Eric feels differently about her and her brother."

Jonathan pulled up a photo of Vincent on his phone and showed it to Lara. "This is Elsa's brother, Vincent. Doesn't he look a lot like Eric?"

Lara stared at the photo for a long time.

"I'm almost certain now. Elsa's mother must be my daughter." Her voice was choked with emotion.

"My poor child, I can't imagine what she's been through all these years."

Jonathan didn't know how to comfort his mother. After a moment of contemplation, he spoke.

"Here's what we'll do. I'll arrange for someone in Lakeshire City to question Delphine, and we'll conduct a DNA test simultaneously."

"But doing a DNA test will alert Elsa and her brother."

"It won't. Vincent is in a care facility and needs monthly check-ups. We can take a sample during one of those."

Elsa had planned to bring Vincent home a few months ago, but her busy work schedule and Vincent's health issues had delayed it.

This delay, however, provided the perfect opportunity for them to conduct the DNA test discreetly.

Lara nodded. "This must be done in secret to prevent anyone from exploiting the situation and causing trouble."

Jonathan agreed.

Though they planned to investigate, both mother and son already felt certain that Elsa and her brother were their blood relatives.

That night, Luke naturally stayed over at Elsa's place.

The next morning, Elsa woke up in the early light, looking at Luke sleeping soundly beside her. For a moment, she felt disoriented.

Elsa wasn't one to believe in fate, but she had always felt that she and Luke were destined to be entangled for life.

She turned her head, propping herself up on her arm to watch his handsome sleeping face. Her previously firm resolve to never look back began to waver.

Unless she chose to spend the rest of her life alone, she would eventually return to Luke, wouldn't she?

There were so many men in the world, but she only loved Luke. If she were to fall in love and marry again, it would be impossible to find anyone else but him.

As Chloe had said, not being able to spend your life with the one you love was already painful enough. Forcing yourself to live with someone you didn't love would be even worse.

No, she couldn't be hasty. She needed to finish her studies first. Elsa shook her head, trying to push away her scattered thoughts.

"What are you thinking about, baby?" Luke had woken up at some point, reaching out to cup the back of her head and pulling her in for a kiss.
