Chapter 263 Do You Have Something on Mind?

Elsa took a half step back, subtly shielding Chloe behind her.

"You guys just had a fight with Harold last month and divided the territory, didn't you? Now you're collecting protection fees right at Harold's doorstep. If you leave today, I won't say anything. Otherwise, you're done for."

At that time, they were only about ten years old. Elsa looked at the two thugs with her head held high, but her expression was calm. Her words were sharp and intimidating, scaring the two thugs.

"Don't be mad, we'll leave." The other thug quickly pulled his companion away.

The only dangerous experience in her happy childhood was easily resolved. Chloe looked at Elsa through teary eyes, feeling incredulous.

"You've got the wrong person," she said somewhat dazedly.

"Fool." Elsa tugged at her sleeve. "I'll walk you home."

That day, Elsa walked Chloe all the way to her neighborhood, and the frightened Chloe gradually calmed down.

"Do you want ice cream? My treat." Seeing the beads of sweat on Elsa's forehead, Chloe pulled her to the nearest convenience store.

Chloe bought 20 five-dollar ice creams, and they sat on the steps outside, eating until it was completely dark. Both of their heads were chilled.

"I need to go home," Chloe said. Her family's servants were already searching for her everywhere.

"Okay," Elsa said with a smile, nodding before leaving.

"By the way, how do you know Harold?" Chloe remembered the name.

Elsa smiled. "I read about him in the school anti-bullying handbook."

Elsa's calm demeanor in front of the thugs almost made her think Elsa was a delinquent herself!

Chloe's parents quickly dealt with the thugs after learning about the incident, ensuring Elsa faced no further trouble. Chloe and Elsa soon became friends.

Abigail and Patrick also grew quite fond of Elsa. Patrick liked her because Elsa could already be treated as a respectable adult.

Abigail, a Christian, was impressed that Elsa could recite the entire Bible. At such a young age, she could discuss the words of Jehovah with Abigail.

"Your friend is destined to climb high and go far," Patrick said one day, watching the endless interviews on TV about Elsa's astonishing SAT scores.

Although they didn't know why she married into the Taylor family, Abigail and Patrick were not surprised.

To Abigail and Patrick, Elsa was the most outstanding child. Even if she became the president one day, they would find it perfectly normal.

"You really are both capable and charming." As memories flooded back, Chloe felt a bit relieved.

All the past events gave her reason to believe that if Elsa wanted to clear her name, she could do it.

After downing a whole bottle of tequila, Chloe, with bleary eyes, smiled foolishly at the empty seat in front of her. "You can do it."

Jonathan discovered Chloe. "Ms. Clark, do you have something on your mind?"
