Chapter 209 Elsa Gets into a Car Accident
"Elsa's so cold," Terry grumbled to Karida after hanging up the phone.
"That's just how she is. Deep down, she's super emotional," Karida explained, knowing Elsa better than most.
They waited for about half an hour before Elsa finally showed up in her Porsche Cayenne.
Elsa had just thrown a coat over her loungewear, and she didn't look as indifferent as she sounded on the phone.
Terry and Karida exchanged a look.
"Let's go. My driver's following them. I'll take you there," Karida said, hopping into Elsa's car.
Terry decided not to join them to avoid making things awkward.
Karida and Elsa followed the location sent by Karida's driver and ended up at a hotel. They ignored the receptionist and headed straight to the room Margaret had booked.
"Margaret, open up," Elsa said, pressing the doorbell. When there was no answer, she knocked.
Luke had been somewhat conscious when he left with Margaret, but he had drunk way too much. By the time Margaret got him to the hotel bed, he was out cold.
Luke couldn't hear anything outside, but Margaret did.
A flash of malice crossed her eyes. She bit her lip and let out a loud moan.
"No, Luke!"
"I'm gonna take a shower first. Don't rush. Elsa's still outside," Margaret said.
The knocking got more urgent, and Karida took over. "Margaret, don't do anything stupid. Luke's drunk!"
Elsa stayed expressionless. "Stop knocking. Let's go."
Karida started to sweat. Wasn't Luke just trying to mess with Elsa? Did he and Margaret actually hook up?
This wasn't just an insult to Elsa; it was like asking for trouble.
"Luke's drunk. He's not thinking straight," Karida awkwardly tried to explain to Elsa.
Elsa didn't show any extra emotion.
"I'll go to the front desk and get a room key to open the door," Karida said.
"What are you gonna do by opening the door?" Elsa glanced at him.
"If I knew it would turn out like this, I wouldn't have come to get him. A guy who can't control himself isn't worth it."
Elsa rarely showed emotion around people she didn't know well, but her words revealed her anger now.
Karida wanted to defend Luke but felt too embarrassed.
Before he could say anything, Elsa said, "Your driver's waiting for you. I won't see you off."
With that, she walked out and drove away.
[Are you awake?] Elsa texted Chloe, feeling numb and her chest tight with pain as she drove, freeing one hand to send the message.
[No, what's up?] Chloe replied instantly.
[I want a divorce.]
"What happened?" Chloe sensed something was wrong and called immediately.
"Luke cheated. He went to a hotel with Margaret today and slept with her," Elsa said, putting her phone on her lap and turning on the speaker. She kept her eyes on the road and spoke calmly.
The bigger the issue, the calmer and colder Elsa appeared. It was her usual demeanor.
Lily had analyzed that she had post-traumatic stress disorder, which made her habitually hide her sadness and helplessness when she was feeling vulnerable.
Chloe understood this very well.
Even though Elsa had never explicitly expressed her feelings for Luke, Chloe knew this incident might have hit her as hard as losing Leslie.
"Where are you? I'll come find you. We can talk in person," Chloe said urgently.
"Let's talk later," Elsa replied, somewhat dazed.
Elsa's car drove onto an overpass, and a drunk man suddenly staggered in front of her car.
Elsa swerved sharply, hitting a concrete pillar and flipping the car over.
"Elsa!" Chloe's scream echoed in her ears as the airbag deployed, cushioning the impact on Elsa's head and chest.
