Chapter 42 Will You Marry Me Again
Even though Elsa was unhappy, she had a strong desire to recover.
Every day, she seemed to be in a daze, not wanting to eat, not talking much, not interested in anything, but she didn't need anyone to persuade her to take antidepressants.
Elsa often barely ate, just swallowing a blue pill along with a few bites of food.
Many of the medications prescribed by Lily had sedative effects, so Elsa spent sixteen to seventeen hours a day sleeping. When she was awake, she went to the counseling room for therapy.
Already frail, Elsa lost even more weight due to illness. Her face looked very emaciated, like those delicate princesses in Disney animations.
Luke had long passed the stage of panic. He secretly observed her every movement, appearing calm on the surface, coldly watching everything as if it wasn't him who had held her and comforted her while she was being stitched up that day.
He had decided that he couldn't be too good to her, because she was very rebellious, and easily took advantage of him. If he didn't make her learn her lesson, she would do even more outrageous things in the future.
Luke was already busy with many things. Without him, the Taylor Corporation couldn't function properly. So, after about a week, he had the plaster cast removed and left the hospital.
"Elsa, if you dare to self-harm again, I'll have Vincent walk in front of you. I'll even expand the Miller family to go public and have David ring the bell at Nasdaq!" He threatened Elsa fiercely before leaving. And when he saw Elsa's empty eyes flinch suddenly, he felt satisfied.
Good, he had hit her weak spot and successfully scared her.
Luke clearly cared for her more than anyone else, but his harsh words sounded tougher than anyone else's.
Every time Max looked at his boss, he wondered how there could be someone with such low emotional intelligence in the world. He didn't know if Elsa could sense any concern from his harsh tone.
What he didn't know was that Elsa never thought about Luke's intentions at all.
Instead of pondering over this man, she was fixed on a clear goal: to recover quickly and destroy the Miller family. If Luke said she shouldn't self-harm, then she wouldn't.
As for the reasons behind Luke's threats, she simply didn't want to think about them.
Overthinking didn't help. As long as Luke was willing to marry her, whether he liked or disliked her didn't matter.
Time flew by, and the two hadn't seen each other for nearly two weeks.
Poor Max had to contact Lily every day to closely monitor Elsa's condition, then casually convey the information to his boss. He was often being criticized for talking too much. Not only Luke's friends, but even Max felt that this Miss Miller was more troublesome than the previous one, and marrying her might not be a good choice.
Elsa completely emerged from her depression on a very ordinary morning.
Luke was getting ready in the bathroom on the ground floor when the doorbell rang outside.
He opened the door to see Elsa standing at the villa's entrance in an extremely dignified white dress with a seven-inch high heels, smiling.
She hadn't smiled like that since her relapse into depression, which stirred something within him. However, he just calmly opened the door and let her in before heading back to the bathroom.
He didn't ask her why she had come, but he had a vague idea.
Elsa took off her high heels and walked into the bathroom barefoot. She always suspected that the lady's slippers in the villa had been worn by Karen and felt disgusted. So she preferred to walk barefoot on the floor in his villa.
Luke applied shaving foam around his lips in front of the mirror, and Elsa, looking at him in the mirror, seemed to have a somewhat fascinated look in her eyes.
"What's wrong with you?" Luke turned back with a face full of foam, raising an eyebrow.
Elsa didn't say anything but kissed him on tiptoe.
It was a soft, moist, and lingering kiss.
The shaving foam spread on both their faces, and Luke felt like his heart had melted into that pile of bubbles, soft enough to dissolve.
He was very excited inside, but his face remained calm, showing no extra expression.
As Elsa felt a bit breathless and wanted to pull away, Luke lifted her up and sat her on the sink, deepening the kiss.
They kept kissing until both of their faces turned rosy, and Luke's hands wandered restlessly under her skirt. Suddenly, Elsa stopped, and panting, asked, "Will you marry me again?"
