Chapter 395 Recognizing Relatives
It was only about ten minutes before Lara burst into the office, her eyes swollen like walnuts. As soon as she entered, she grabbed Elsa in a tight embrace.
Lara held her so tightly that Elsa didn't even need to ask why she was there; she already knew.
"Elsa, sweetheart." Lara had been trying to hold back, but now she couldn't stop the tears from flowing.
"I'm your real grandmother, Elsa. Your mom is my daughter, Joanna." She cried into Elsa's shoulder, her hands trembling as she pulled a paternity test report from her pocket.
It was a test between her and Vincent, dated just two hours ago.
The heavy weight Elsa had been carrying in her heart for days suddenly lifted.
The King family hadn't rejected her, and neither had Lara! Lara was just as in the dark as she had been, unaware of the truth.
"Joanna was taken from me when she was three. I thought she was dead. Elsa, I always believed I had lost her."
"Grandma!" Elsa's tears broke free at that moment.
She had secretly done a paternity test herself, so there was no need to say more.
She had thought that after Leslie's death, it was just her and Vincent against the world. But fate had given her an incredible gift after everything had settled.
The grandmother and granddaughter held each other and cried for a long time.
Later, Jonathan heard the news and rushed over.
Jonathan stood a step away, his eyes red as well, trying his best to sound calm.
"Elsa, call me Uncle."
Elsa was already a mess of tears, years of pent-up grievances and heartache finally released upon meeting her real family. She left Lara's embrace and threw herself into Jonathan's arms, clinging to him tightly.
This scene lasted for one or two hours, only coming under control thanks to Jonathan's composure.
He held Lara with one arm and Elsa, his newly found niece, with the other, wiping their tears.
"Let's go home. I'll have someone bring Eric and Vincent."
It was a rare moment of reunion. Vincent, upon learning that the Jonathan he had always liked was actually his blood-related uncle, was equally excited.
He obediently called him Uncle and Grandma, then followed Jonathan around like a shadow.
"Vincent, call him brother." During dinner, Eric put his hand on Vincent's shoulder, leaning his head against him.
The two had almost identical big eyes, slightly upturned lips, and the same smile.
"I should have known." Jonathan suddenly murmured, looking at the two cousins.
"If I had realized earlier, I wouldn't have let Elsa suffer so much, dealing with the entire Miller family alone." His eyes were filled with pain.
"It wasn't that bad, it went pretty smoothly." Elsa quickly said.
At that time, someone had always been there to shield her, making things indeed go smoothly. Suddenly thinking of Luke, Elsa felt she should let him know so he wouldn't have to wait for her all night.
"It's my fault for not telling you this sooner." Lara was about to cry again.
Elsa gave Vincent a look, and Vincent quickly went over to hug Jonathan and then Lara.
"Elsa and I are doing great, no need to be sad."
The family reunion had everyone's attention focused on each other, as they tried to make up for the lost years of family love.
No one noticed Giselle in the corner, smiling and crying along with them, as she quietly clenched her fists.
