Chapter 17 They Were Caught in the Act
As Karen stepped in, she was greeted by the sight of clothes littered across the living room floor. The air was thick with moans and labored breathing.
She instinctively let out a scream.
Luke and Elsa halted their actions. Luke reacted swiftly, grabbing a blanket from the sofa to cover Elsa. "Karen, please leave first."
"Luke, you've always refused to touch me, saying you wanted to save the best for our first time after marriage. How could you..." Karen burst into tears, unable to speak for a moment.
However, Elsa, unfazed, got up from the sofa, picked up her clothes one by one, and leisurely put them on.
"Take your time. Goodbye."
She showed no signs of panic at being caught in such a compromising situation. Instead, she seemed rather cheerful.
"Chloe, come out. I'll treat you to a drink." Elsa dialed Chloe's number happily as she walked away.
She knew Karen would come looking for her, but she didn't expect it to be so soon.
"You've put me to shame before. Now, I've served you a taste of your own medicine. We're even." Elsa leisurely hoisted her middle finger in the direction of Luke's lavish mansion.
After Elsa left, Luke also dressed and sat on the sofa, smoking. Men dislike being interrupted during sex, so now he was irritated.
"You saw it too. I think we can call off our engagement," he said, not even sure when he had given Karen the password to this mansion. How did she get in?
Karen was now in a panic.
When she received Elsa's location, she knew it was a provocation, but she still decided to confront Elsa. Although things had become clear, Karen found herself unable to handle the situation now.
"Luke, if you vow never to interact with Elsa again, I can forgive you..." she spoke in a tone that was excessively submissive. Then she added, "You must have been momentarily disoriented, right? Elsa must have enticed you!"
"Do you know her?" Luke lit another cigarette, frowning at her.
"I don't know her!" Karen's voice trembled. "No, I mean that I've heard of her, but we're not familiar."
“Do you hold a grudge?” After a few exchanges, Luke sensed Elsa's hostility towards Karen. Seeing Karen's flustered state, he grew suspicious.
"How could I hold a grudge with such a woman? I just happened to have heard of her."
Luke clearly didn't believe her answer, but he didn't bother to investigate further.
"My grandpa arranged our engagement when he was alive. Now, the blame lies with me; the reparation for breaking off the engagement will be provided to you. The Taylor family won’t treat you unfairly. At this point, I request that you depart, and my attorney will engage in discussions with you about the compensation."
For some reason, as he spoke these words, he felt a sense of relief.
"It must be that vile woman who seduced you, Luke. There's no man who doesn't cheat, and you just made the mistake that all men make. I... I can forgive you!"
Karen was flustered as if she were the one who was caught in the bed.
Karen thought, ‘Elsa! You lured me here on purpose. You left me in a dilemma. I won’t let you go.’
Luke could belittle Elsa, but hearing Karen curse Elsa made him particularly uncomfortable.
He extinguished his cigarette in the ashtray and looked at her calmly. "Why bother, Karen? It wasn't Elsa seducing me; it was me who forced her to do it with me. The Miller family wants us to marry early just for Taylor Incorporation’s investment, right? I will invest in your company. You can go back."
