Chapter 46 Married

"Elsa, there's surveillance at the door!"

Luke was extremely annoyed by Elsa. He pinched her chin, forcing her to look into his eyes. The tears in her eyes made him pause for a moment, so the force in his fingers relaxed a bit.

"What do you mean?" Elsa didn't understand for a moment, and it took her a while to suddenly realize what he meant.

"I didn't hurt myself on purpose under surveillance to seek sympathy, I just wanted you to calm down." Elsa wanted to explain, then dejectedly lowered her eyes. "Forget it, you won't believe me anyway."

She rarely showed a look of grievance, which made Luke feel a bit uncomfortable, and his anger slowly subsided. He refrained from embracing her to comfort her with his strong self-control.

"Elsa, there are many ways to solve problems. Self-harm is the least desirable."

"But I don't even know why you're angry. I can't solve it." She still hadn't figured out what she did wrong!

Luke was somewhat embarrassed. 'How should I explain it? Should I say I was angry because she didn't want the engagement ring, and was planning to leave without taking my money, so I got upset?' he thought.

That would make him look too petty.

In the end, with a stern face, he just said, "Think about it yourself," and left in a hurry.

Elsa was left standing there, feeling frustrated. She had stumbled and been scolded, but being able to marry Luke smoothly was considered as the most important thing in her heart.

She couldn't figure out Luke's thoughts toward her, but she felt that whether he was attracted to her for a moment of novelty or taking responsibility for her, the result still suited her. In case Luke ever grew tired of her, she wouldn't hold back his happiness.

As for the prenuptial agreement, she felt it shouldn't make Luke suffer. It wasn't that she planned to take advantage of Luke and then leave, so she didn't understand the reason why Luke was angry.

Forget Luke, now the most important thing for Elsa was to upset the Miller family.

So Elsa took out her marriage certificate, took a serious photo, and updated a Facebook status. This was her first Facebook post since her mother's death.

There were no fancy captions, just the word "Married" with a "shy" emoji, accompanied by a picture of her and Luke's marriage certificate.

Friends who hadn't heard from her in a while started sending congratulations messages.

[Congratulations, when are you planning to have the wedding?]

[Did you drop out of school and return to the country just to get married? Your husband is so handsome!]

[Oh my god! Is this the Luke everyone knows? Elsa, you've hidden it so well!]

In less than half an hour, there were already dozens of comments from old friends and classmates. Elsa had originally intended to make it visible only to Karen, but then she thought the more people who knew, the greater the blow to Karen, so she made it public to everyone.

As she expected, not long after, Karen called.

"Elsa, are you feeling triumphant now, thinking you've finally got the upper hand? Your tough days are still ahead!" She dropped her ladylike facade with nauseating mocking words.

"My tough days are ahead, but your tough days are right now. Who do you think is more pitiful?" Elsa sneered, sharp in her words.

There was silence on Karen's side for a while. Probably a minute or two later, she said, "You despicable person. Although this bout of depression didn't kill you this time, doesn't mean you'll be fine in the future."

"If you have any means, go ahead and use them."

This relapse of depression almost took Elsa's life. But she wasn't afraid. If she wanted revenge, she had to confront Karen head-on.

Luke left Elsa in the master bedroom and spent the afternoon in the study. He wasn't idle during this time. he had Max hire a few servants for the villa and personally interviewed them that day.

Luke preferred peace and tranquility. In the past, all the miscellaneous matters of the villa were outsourced. There was a specialized security company for property safety, a gardening company for plant care, a housekeeping company that came twice a week, and meals were delivered by a cooperating five-star hotel.

But things were different now. After all, Elsa moved in, the villa had a mistress. It needed to feel more like a home.

She couldn't take care of herself at all, so it was better to have a few full-time live-in servants. Besides, this woman always suddenly went crazy and harmed herself. It was inevitable that he couldn't look after her all the time, so having more people in the house would put his mind at ease.
