Chapter 387 Missing You, Wife
Scenes like this had played out countless times since the divorce, and Elsa had long since lost her patience over them.
It was already deep winter, and Luke, standing in the hallway, was still wearing his fall coat. As Elsa approached him, she could feel the chill emanating from him.
"How long have you been waiting here?" Elsa asked.
This man, who usually spent his time indoors, traveling by car to high-end office buildings and hotels, had no idea that the hallways of ordinary apartment buildings didn't have heating.
"Not long!" Luke couldn't help but sneeze.
Elsa sighed and pressed her fingerprint to unlock the door. "Come in."
"You have my WhatsApp and phone number. Couldn't you have just asked me? Why wait out here in the cold?" She let Luke in, motioning for him to sit on the couch while she headed to the kitchen.
Before long, she returned with a steaming pot of soup.
"Usually, people use cola for this, it's great for warming up," she said, ladling a bowl and handing it to Luke.
"Cola soup?" Luke frowned at the odd combination, but since Elsa had made it, he would drink it, no matter how strange it seemed.
To his surprise, it tasted good, and his frown relaxed.
Luke had thought Elsa would be back after lunch at the King's, but he had waited so long that he had caught a chill. Curled up on the couch, he slowly finished the pot of soup, feeling warmth spread through him.
"Staying at a single man's place until evening?" He brought it up, his face darkening.
Technically, he was just an ex-husband and had no right to interfere, but Elsa was tired of arguing about such things with him.
"Mrs. King came to Maplewood City and invited Chloe and me over. And who said Mr. King is single? He's dating Chloe."
"Really?" Luke raised an eyebrow. "I thought Jonathan liked you."
Did he think the whole world was in love with her? That was giving her too much credit.
"I'm not money; not everyone likes me. You're just..." The phrase "love is blind" got stuck in her throat, making her feel awkward.
Luke chuckled and pulled her into a hug.
"Love is blind. But my wife is a beauty," he whispered in her ear, coaxing her.
Normally, Elsa would have struggled out of his embrace and reminded him, "I'm not your wife anymore."
But now, she stayed still, lips pressed together, refusing to respond.
To Luke, this felt like a form of consent. His heart began to race.
"I missed you," he murmured, nuzzling her neck and kissing her sensitive earlobe. Elsa shivered and gasped, clutching the lapels of his coat.
Luke had missed her desperately, and Elsa, usually a devout person with little desire, found herself easily ignited by him, much to her surprise.
Maybe it was because she had passed by his door twice today and thought of him both times.
After Elsa and Chloe left, Lara's loving and joyful expression faded. She suddenly turned to Jonathan and said, "Come to the study. I need to talk to you."
Her serious demeanor suggested something important.
Jonathan had never seen Lara like this and quickly followed her to the study.
"I suspect Elsa's mother is your biological sister," Lara said, closing the study door.
Lara's expression was serious, and she wasn't the type to joke about such matters.
"I have a sister?" Jonathan was stunned, hearing this for the first time.
