Chapter 276 Marital Property

"Mr. Taylor, aren't you not afraid?" Max started to say, but then thought better of it and fell silent.

"You mean afraid she'll be desperate and do something reckless?" Luke shot Max a glance.

Max replied, "After all, Ms. Miller is smart." And she was a bit unscrupulous. Max swallowed the latter half of his sentence.

"Anyone who dares to give her money now is openly defying me!" Luke's face remained stern and cold.

Of course, he knew that there were plenty of people willing to give money to her—Chloe, Jonathan, Jonny—any of them could easily come up with sixty million dollars. But at this moment, he had no other choice but to take a gamble.

"In the hospital, he was still arguing fiercely to transfer Dalton Banks' shares to you, and now he's turned against you so quickly." Chloe flipped through Elsa's agreement. "I'll give you sixty million dollars, and you two never see each other again."

Elsa sighed. "If you give me money now, your club won't be able to stay open."

She knew very well that Luke was doing this to make her yield and force her to come back. But she no longer wanted to return to those days, feeling constant anxious.

"Didn't you have an amicable divorce? Why does he make the thing so difficult? I really don't get you two."

"Chloe, I got a divorce by threatening to die, not an amicable divorce."

Chloe's mouth twitched sharply. That was true.

"If I go back, not only do I not have to repay the money, but I'll have a good life in the future." Elsa pulled the agreement from Chloe's hand and flipped through it casually.

She added, "But I've had enough of living a life where my emotions are controlled by Luke."

Chloe was startled by the sudden coldness in Elsa's expression. "Actually, Luke doesn't really disrespect you that much. If it weren't for Margaret, or if your child were still here, you wouldn't have come to this point."

After all, she could even see how much Luke cared for her. It was hard to say he didn't love her.

"But Margaret exists, and our child is indeed gone because of his negligence," Elsa said. "Enough. I need to figure out how to repay the money."

Elsa managed to retrieve the things she had left at the villa. Most of it wasn't important, but the most crucial items were her professional books and the dozen or so bags she had bought at the luxury store below the casino.

She took a photo of the bags and sent it to Luke: [Can I take these?]

Elsa wasn't interested in luxury goods; she had bought the bags in a frenzy to get Brian's attention. Now, they could come in handy.

Luke replied: [Didn't you decide not to take them when you came to pack last time?]

She sent: [I looked at them today and found I quite like them. Although the principal was your money, I did win it, so how about I give you one?]

She lied without batting an eye.

Luke circled one of the gray and white bags:[Fine, I want this one.]

Elsa remembered that this bag had cost her over eight hundred thousand dollars, the most expensive one among them.

[Luke, do you really need this bag?]

Luke was relentless: [You won it with my money. Shouldn't I get one? Besides, it's still marital property.]

Elsa's forehead throbbed with anger. [If you're going to be so clear-cut, I want to take the gifts George gave me.]

He replied: [Those are also marital property. Remember to leave half.]
