Chapter 375 Terry: Stick It Here
It wasn't until Luke left Elsa's place that he finally started to calm down a bit.
Now that everything was out in the open, he realized he had been completely wrong. Elsa didn't blame him, but that didn't mean he didn't blame himself.
She had no intention of getting back together; she just wanted to focus on her career and finish her studies. Whatever she needed, he would give it to her.
Leaving Elsa's, Luke headed straight to the office.
Terry was waiting in the lobby.
In the past, he used to come and go freely from Terry's office, but now things had become so distant.
Luke saw Terry but didn't even lift an eyelid, walking straight past him towards the elevator.
"Luke!" Terry called after him.
Luke didn't stop.
"Luke!" Terry chased him to the elevator and blocked his way.
"Move."
Luke lifted his eyes to look at Terry, as if he were a complete stranger. The coldness in his gaze sent a shiver down Terry's spine.
"Luke, is this how it's going to be? Are we just going to cut each other off for the rest of our lives?" Terry's voice suddenly rose.
Luke turned back and gave a disdainful laugh.
"Terry, you should know, this is the most mercy I can show."
He could have used the most ruthless methods he reserved for enemies and traitors on Terry, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
Because Terry was one of his own.
"One of his own" was Luke's weakness.
"I know." Terry followed him into the elevator, locking eyes with Luke.
"Margaret's situation, that was you, wasn't it?" Terry suddenly asked.
"She got what she deserved."
No matter how many petty tricks Margaret pulled, Luke could turn a blind eye. But the moment she dared to mess with Elsa, she was done for.
"And what about me, Luke? What are you planning to do with me?"
Luke had investigated and knew Terry was unaware of Margaret's dirty deeds.
If Terry had allowed Margaret to harm his child and done nothing, he wouldn't be acting this way.
Even though things had gotten this bad between them, Luke still believed in Terry's integrity when it came to major issues.
But believing didn't mean he wasn't still angry.
"Luke, take this." Terry followed Luke to his office and threw a stack of documents onto Luke's desk.
"These are all the financial and tax records since I took over the Clark Group."
Luke raised an eyebrow.
Terry's face was ashen, showing his resolve, "With this data, you could easily put me in jail for two years, Luke. I know you're still mad, so I'm giving you the means to destroy me."
Luke picked up the stack of papers and casually flipped through them.
The data was thorough. Terry didn't understand tax law, so he had clearly hired an expert.
People like them, who sent millions of dollars in gifts to relevant departments every year, none of them had clean hands.
Terry presenting these financial loopholes to Luke was like marking his own heart with a Sharpie and telling Luke, "Stab here, hard."
He was out of his mind.
"Terry, you think I won't have the heart to put you in jail, don't you?"
"One after another, you all think I'm soft-hearted and easy to talk to, don't you?"
"What, you want to put me in a position where I have to beg you not to do something stupid?"
Luke, in a fit of rage, slammed his hand down on the desk, then continued to pound it repeatedly.
