Chapter 400 Waiting for a Guest

Lara was getting older and already had trouble sleeping. Adding to that, she had just reunited with two family members, which left her feeling excited and restless. She woke up early, around five in the morning.

She sat in the front hall, leisurely sipping coffee and having breakfast. It wasn't until after seven that she saw Elsa return.

Elsa was wearing different clothes from the night before. She had on a white knit dress with a chic gray and white fur coat over it, looking far from her usual cool demeanor and instead quite delicate.

The clothes fit her well. Despite being divorced for a while, there were still clothes for her in the villa, showing that Luke treated her well. Lara observed Elsa from head to toe, pondering silently.

Elsa didn't know what Lara was thinking. She assumed that wealthy families had many rules, and it was indeed inappropriate to spend the night at a man's house right after recognizing a relative. So, she felt a bit embarrassed facing Lara.

"Morning, Grandma," she greeted Lara softly.

"Did you have breakfast?" Lara asked, seeing Elsa's cautious demeanor, feeling a pang of sympathy but keeping a straight face.

"Yeah, I did."

"What time do you go to work?"

"I'm heading there now."

"Good. You focus on your work. I've arranged for Vincent to have a family doctor. From now on, I'll personally take care of him," Lara added.

Elsa saw that Lara didn't ask her anything, and she couldn't hold back.

"Thank you, Grandma. Last night, I..."

"Enough. I've been single for many years. I don't want to hear you young folks flaunting your love," Lara interrupted, waving her hand. "You're an adult now, not a reckless child. Grandma trusts you to make your own decisions. You've been married once already. Do you think the King family will impose a curfew on you?"

With that, Elsa felt a weight lift off her shoulders. Even on her way to the office, her eyes were misty.

After watching Elsa leave for work, Lara went upstairs to check on Vincent.

Vincent had his room last night but insisted on sleeping in Eric's room. Eric had gone to school early, leaving Vincent in his room, wearing cartoon-patterned plush pajamas and playing on a tablet.

Hearing Lara knock, Vincent came to the door barefoot and gave Lara a big hug.

"Good morning, Grandma," he said, hugging her.

Despite her youthful appearance, Lara was still an elderly woman. Her heart softened immediately, and she smiled through her tears.

Although she already had an outstanding grandson, she was now truly experiencing the joy of a typical grandmother.

After spending some time with Vincent, Lara returned to the front hall.

"Grandma, aren't you going out today?" Giselle asked, seeing Lara sitting there.

"No rush. We should have guests today," Lara replied with a smile.

"Does Grandma have other relatives besides Elsa?" Giselle joked, but felt a pang of jealousy.

"Sort of," Lara raised an eyebrow, not revealing much.

"Then I'll wait with you," Giselle said, her curiosity piqued, and sat down next to Lara.

An hour passed with no sign of anyone. Giselle started to feel uneasy.

But seeing Lara's confident demeanor, she didn't want to spoil the mood and continued to wait.

At 10 a.m., the butler came in and bowed, "Mrs. King, Mr. Taylor is here to see you."

"He's here," Lara smiled.

She instructed the butler to invite him in and quickly had the servants replace the coffee on the table with the finest Blue Mountain coffee.

"Which Mr. Taylor?" Giselle asked, still confused.

"Who else? Elsa's husband—no, ex-husband," Lara smiled again.

Just as she finished speaking, they saw Luke carrying a brocade box, walking towards them through the King Villa's garden.
