Chapter 256 Max Got Beaten
"Let go of me," Elsa said fearlessly, coldly staring at the girl.
"Ms. Miller, Ms. Taylor, what are you doing here!"
Seeing Elsa at a disadvantage, Max's voice sounded from the doorway.
"Ms. Taylor, you violates the pledge to stay three meters away from Ms. Miller."
"She's already divorced from Luke!" Jasmine snapped angrily, clearly displeased with Max's address.
"Ms. Taylor, please maintain a three-meter distance from Ms. Miller. This is what you promised Mr. Taylor." Max calmly shielded Elsa behind him.
Max always greeted people with a smile, but even the slightly perceptive individuals knew he represented Luke and was not to be offended.
Unfortunately, Jasmine was an idiot.
"Max, who do you think you are?" Jasmine raised her hand to slap Max.
Max was caught off guard, his face turning to one side from the slap.
"Max!" Elsa was also shocked, rushing out from behind Max to check his face.
"It's okay, Ms. Miller." Max's face bore five bright red fingerprints, his smile gone. He still reached out to protect Elsa, calmly looking at Jasmine.
He had a non-aggressive face, but Elsa knew the ruthless things Max did for Luke in private were terrifying.
Luke was picky and moody, having gone through countless assistants before settling on Max, whose importance was self-evident.
Aaron, Holly and Nathan were smart, but Jasmine was reckless and domineering, making her detestable.
Seeing Max's suddenly stern face, Jasmine finally felt a bit scared.
"I'm just teaching you a lesson today! Don't even think about complaining to Luke!"
"Ms. Taylor, you should be grateful I don't hit women." The coldness in Max's eyes intensified. In that moment, Elsa felt she saw a shadow of Luke.
Having Max step in to resolve the trouble and even take a slap for her was really inappropriate. Elsa felt guilty all the way home.
She now eagerly hoped to sell that office building soon, pay off Luke. If she wasn't in jail by then, she would return to the Novaria to finish her studies.
She wanted to stay far away from these people and things in her home country. In the year since Leslie's death, she had been driven forward by hatred, feeling utterly exhausted.
These past few days, Luke had been closely monitoring Elsa's movements. Seeing her stay home to recover, he felt much more at ease.
Today, hearing she had gone out, he couldn't resist following her.
Luke's car was parked discreetly, watching from a distance as Elsa and Max came out together. She looked much better.
The petite figure lazily wrapped in a bathrobe-style pink coat, the fur collar snuggled around her neck, making her look even more delicate. His heart skipped a beat.
Elsa seemed to be thanking Max, then politely said goodbye.
Luke felt the suppressed longing of the past few days surge up, his throat bitter.
"Mr. Taylor."
It wasn't until Max returned to the car and called out several times that Luke snapped out of it.
