Chapter 155 Luke Gets Jealous
Luke figured Elsa would roll back with the crew, so he even snagged a reservation at some swanky joint.
They'd only had a quick catch-up the night he jetted into Silverwood Falls over the past couple of weeks.
Luke wasn't much of a chatterbox, and Elsa was even quieter. When they were together, it was cool, but apart, their communication tanked.
He had plans to scoop her up from the airport, but Sylvie dropped the bomb that Elsa hadn't come back.
That night, Luke was tossing and turning, couldn't catch a wink.
When he rang Elsa, she was busy chasing balls for Joseph and missed the call.
By the time Elsa noticed the missed call, she and Joseph, along with Jonathan, were munching on some late-night snacks.
Elsa thought she'd hit him back once she got to the hotel, but it was almost midnight by then, and Luke was probably out cold. She decided to call him the next day.
"Why isn't Elsa answering her phone this late? What's she up to?" Luke wondered, his expression darkening as he called Max.
"Have you talked to Joseph?" Luke asked.
Most of Luke's peeps were in Maplewood City. He had to lean on some connections to get in touch with Joseph's boss in Light City, which took a few days to set up.
"Yeah, Mr. Reed's secretary said they gave Mr. Garcia the heads-up," Max replied.
Luke felt a bit of the weight lift off his shoulders. Elsa was a straight shooter. With her personality, she'd definitely go straight to Joseph.
But who was Joseph? He wasn't someone she could just chat up whenever she felt like it.
"Mrs. Taylor's lucky to have a couple like you," Max said, genuinely.
In his eyes, Elsa's problem was she didn't know how to show affection. If she spoiled Luke a bit like before they tied the knot, what couldn't she get?
Luke didn't respond and hung up. He didn't know if Elsa would come back the next day. If not, he wouldn't hesitate to send a chopper to fetch her.
It was past 1 a.m. when Luke finally drifted into a light sleep.
The phone on his bedside table wouldn't stop ringing.
"Just getting done at this hour?" Luke thought it was Elsa and wasn't even mad about being woken up.
"Luke, is Elsa not home?"
When Luke realized it was Debbie calling, he got pissed again.
"She's on a business trip and will be back tomorrow," Luke said, flicking on the light and sitting up.
"Mom, why are you up in the middle of the night? Worried about Elsa?"
Debbie wasn't fond of Elsa. However, after Margaret falsely accused Elsa and Debbie got inadvertently involved, she felt embarrassed and had been avoiding social situations. Luke didn't believe her concern was for her daughter-in-law."Elsa, as your wife, went to play golf with two dudes late at night, making the Taylor family look bad! Luke, if you don't divorce Elsa, don't even call me your mom!" Debbie's voice was full of rage, and she was banging on the table. Luke's ears were ringing from her yelling.
"Mom, chill out. Elsa's just got legit business to handle with them. Let me figure it out first." He tried to keep his cool, calming his mom down.
Debbie shouted, "Elsa's just not fit to be my daughter-in-law!"
Luke went silent.
After hanging up, Debbie sent a photo via Facebook.
In the pic, Elsa was rocking white shorts, swinging a golf club on the course. Behind her, Jonathan and Joseph were standing side by side, grinning at her.
Elsa wasn't tall, but her proportions were on point. Her legs were long and slender.
As she swung the club, her shorts showed off her round, shapely hips.
Luke didn't bother asking Debbie where she got the photo. Whether it was from Karen or Margaret didn't matter. What mattered was that Elsa's behavior was bugging him!
She hated the Miller family to the core. Luke believed that if she could seduce him to get back at the Miller family, she could use the same moves on others.
Plus, Jonathan's attitude towards her was always sketchy!
Luke's call went through. Since Elsa hadn't crashed yet, she picked up quickly.
"Still up, babe?" Elsa's voice had a guilty edge.
"Elsa, I want you back by tomorrow morning."
