Chapter 331 Alumni Association
Elsa hadn't spoken yet, but Chloe stepped in front of her and said, "This is a public place, not Ms. Phillips' home. If Ms. Phillips can come, so can we."
"You just knew that Luke and I were here to hang out with friends and wanted to make your presence known, didn't you? Who are you trying to fool?" Hailey ignored Chloe and continued to speak rudely to Elsa.
"Hailey, what you treasure might just be someone else's discarded trash," Chloe retorted.
This analogy made Elsa chuckle.
She didn't remember Chloe being so eloquent. It must have been during the time when Elsa was embroiled in scandals, and Chloe honed her skills by arguing with people online. Thinking of this, Elsa felt both amused and grateful, giving Chloe a thankful glance.
Chloe called him unwanted trash? And Elsa was so happy about it!
Luke's face darkened immediately.
"Stop making excuses! Elsa told me she wouldn't get back together with Luke, but didn't she seduce him into staying over? Since you're divorced, have some dignity and stop clinging."
Hailey's constantly moving mouth seemed to magnify in Elsa's eyes. It must have been Luke who told her. When a man is caught cheating, he always blames the other woman for seducing him. Luke was no exception.
She gave Luke a deep, disappointed look, and Luke understood.
This was all Hailey's one-sided interpretation; he had never said such things.
Before he could speak, Elsa cut in, "If I seduced Luke and he stayed over, then Ms. Phillips should be more careful with Mr. Taylor. You never know, one day you might be called over to join Luke and another woman in bed."
Where did she learn these cheeky remarks? She really had a knack for it.
"Elsa, do you have this kind of fetish?" Luke frowned tightly.
"Don't you dare talk about Luke like that!" Hailey puffed up in anger.
Elsa sneered, "You provoked me first. I came to attend the alumni reunion, not to follow you around. Don't flatter yourselves."
With that, she grabbed Chloe and strode out of the foyer.
The alumni reunion had about twenty people, all from the same class and currently doing well. Some were familiar faces, others were not.
Elsa, having made headlines a few times, and Chloe, always the center of attention in high school, caused a small stir as soon as they walked in.
"Long time no see!" A few male classmates moved closer to chat with them.
One man looked very familiar to Elsa. She rummaged through her memories and remembered his name was Oliver Chapman, who had once pursued Chloe for a while.
What was Chloe's reason for rejecting him back then? Oh, it was because Oliver had grown up abroad and his English wasn't good, so he always failed exams.
She had said, "Using different languages to date lacks resonance," and Elsa had agreed at the time.
Oliver had become even taller and more handsome now. More importantly, he was the same age as Chloe, so liking him wouldn't be a psychological burden.
Elsa suddenly felt like playing matchmaker.
"Long time no see, your English has improved so much, Oliver," Elsa deliberately started the conversation.
Oliver, flattered, smiled shyly.
"How have you been lately?" He sat next to Elsa, but his eyes never left Chloe.
"Pretty good. Chloe and I were just wondering what you were up to these days. Didn't expect you to still be so handsome and have such good English," Elsa lied without batting an eye, trying to set them up.
"Back then, Chloe and I didn't get together because my English wasn't good. It's a regretful memory," Oliver said, his eyes fixed on Chloe, his voice softening.
Chloe hadn't spoken but gave him a kind smile.
"Are you still single?" Oliver asked.
Chloe nodded slightly.
"So am I."
Before Oliver could say more, Lola Hill suddenly walked over with a glass of wine.
"Cheers, Elsa. After everything you've been through, it's surprising you still dare to attend the alumni reunion."
Her tone was unfriendly. Elsa looked up at Lola, not recognizing her but finding her familiar.
Oh right, that time she ran into Jasmine at the coffee shop, it was Lola who had stopped her.
A friend of Jasmine's couldn't be a good person.
"Who are you? Sorry, you know me, but I have no impression of you," she said coolly, her eyes scrutinizing Lola.
"My name is Lola. It's normal you don't know me; my love life is simple, unlike yours, which is scandalous and well-known," Lola said, her words sharp.
