Chapter 238 Finding Elsa
Elsa was dragged out of the city by the driver and locked in an abandoned garage.
Without thinking, she knew it was all premeditated.
The garage was cold, damp, and dusty. If you listened carefully, you could even hear the sound of rats.
Overhead, two incandescent bulbs bathed the surroundings in light. Astonishingly, the walls of the warehouse were plastered with news photos from the day Elsa's mother died!
High-definition, gruesome photos!
As the rolling door closed, Elsa screamed and crouched on the ground, tightly closing her eyes.
Locking her in a confined space and making her look at Leslie's death was incredibly cruel!
It must have been Karen's doing!
She had chosen such a perfect time, when Luke had to leave, to bring her here.
Elsa closed her eyes and took a long time to calm down before cautiously opening them.
She needed to turn off the lights.
If no one came to rescue her and she kept seeing the photos of Leslie jumping to her death, she would go insane.
At that point, it's uncertain whether she herself will survive, let alone the child.
Elsa groped around, trying to find the switch for the two lights, but to no avail.
The distinctive smell of mold in the air made her nauseous.
A rat scurried past Elsa's pant leg, startling her so much that she shuddered.
When Margaret called, Joe was already on his deathbed.
By the time Luke arrived, Joe was barely hanging on. Seeing Luke, he managed a fawning smile.
"Promise me, no matter what mistakes Margaret has made, don't..." Joe didn't finish his sentence before he passed away.
When Elsa made the video call, it was just as Joe had closed his eyes, and the Collins family was crying loudly. So he replied with "Find Max" and then put his phone back in his pocket.
He had gone to the Collins family in the morning, and after helping Margaret's mother, Nyx Flores, and Margaret arrange Joe's funeral, he was about to drive home when he saw Elsa's distress message. It was already 5 PM.
He called Elsa's phone, but it was turned off.
"Did Elsa come back?" He called the villa and, upon receiving a negative answer, felt a chill in his heart.
He messaged Karida and Terry.
Luke: [Hurry, Elsa might be in danger!]
After briefly explaining the situation, Karida immediately respond quickly.
Karida: [I have some connections at BrightCare Maternal and Child Hospital. I'll check the surveillance for you. Don't worry.]
Terry followed closely.
Terry: [I'll contact the police and get surveillance from all the intersections.]
Max had already received Luke's call and was searching everywhere.
After everyone spent the night piecing together Elsa's whereabouts, they finally focused on that taxi.
The car that took Elsa out of town in the morning did not return thereafter.
"Search every possible place, door to door," Luke's voice trembled, but he didn't notice, as a chill ran through him.
By the time the police pinpointed the garage, it was already past 1 AM.
"We'll go with you." Karida and Terry, worried about Luke, came to find him.
There were no streetlights outside the city at that hour.
They followed the police through knee-high weeds, guided by flashlights, with the cold night wind howling in their ears.
So late at night, if she was here, how cold and scared she must be!
Luke's heart tightened, and his clenched fists trembled slightly at his sides.
"Elsa is here!" A young officer said as the door to the warehouse was forcibly opened.
