Chapter 163 She Will Be Alone Again
Luke, rolling in dough, definitely had more than just a fancy villa. Last night, he and Elsa had a blowout, and he crashed somewhere else. By morning, he felt kinda hollow and less pissed.
'Better check on her,' he thought. Max mentioned Elsa was on antidepressants, and he wasn't sure how she was holding up.
Lisa had called, saying Elsa was refusing to eat. After getting those cuffs off, she should've eaten, right?
Not wanting to seem too eager, Luke hit the office first before heading home.
On the way, the butler from Debbie's house called to inform that Debbie had been hospitalized due to an incident involving Elsa.
Remembering how Elsa got falsely accused by Margaret before, Luke didn't rush. He checked the surveillance footage on his phone.
He saw his mom go in, Lisa leave, and an hour later, his mom being helped out by bodyguards, looking all upset.
Elsa was stubborn, and his mom didn't like her. Arguments were expected, but hospitalization? That was over the top.
At the hospital, his mom was getting an IV. Margaret was there, playing the concerned friend.
Margaret said timidly, "Luke, I'm sorry. I know I shouldn't be here before I have a boyfriend, but I was worried about your mom."
Luke, remembering his harsh words, softened a bit. "Thanks," he nodded.
Debbie turned away awkwardly when she saw Luke. "What are you doing here? Didn't I say if you don't divorce, don't consider me your mother!"
Luke sighed, "Mom, Elsa is my wife. We're in this together. You shouldn't interfere."
He looked at Margaret. "You sent those photos to my mom, didn't you?"
Margaret pouted. "I couldn't stand seeing you deceived by Elsa."
Debbie exaggeratedly recounted what Elsa said, hiding that she hit Elsa. "Luke, you must choose between me and Elsa!" She got more agitated, slapping the bed until the IV needle came out.
"Don't get worked up. I'll find out what's going on," Luke said, trying to calm her. He didn't leave the hospital until the afternoon, then went home.
At home, Elsa was on the couch, lost in thought with a cup of coffee. Seeing her swollen face, Luke swallowed his reprimand.
Hearing footsteps, Elsa looked up. She wanted to run to him but remembered his mocking words from yesterday. She just pursed her lips and stayed put.
Luke noticed her tension. The golf incident hadn't blown over, and now she angered his mom. He couldn't give in to her first.
He snorted, went upstairs without changing his shoes.
Watching him go, Elsa felt their marriage might not last. What could she do? Even if time turned back, she'd still be a caddie, and Debbie would still dislike her.
She had sought revenge and felt despondent about life. Later, she became Mrs. Taylor and developed feelings for Luke, making her more cautious.
But now, it seemed she'd be alone again. Luke wasn't willing to pay attention to her.
This realization made Elsa feel dejected.
