Chapter 415 Conch Tattoo

"Why'd you decide to get a tattoo?" Elsa asked, puzzled, as she sat in the passenger seat while Chloe drove.

"I broke up with Mr. King. I guess it's my way of getting closure," Chloe replied, lifting her left arm. Her coat sleeve slid down, revealing the word "King" etched into her forearm.

The tattoo had been deepened so many times during sleepless nights that the skin was raised and scarred, looking even more shocking than the first time Elsa had seen it.

Elsa gasped. "Chloe, you must've been in so much pain to do this to yourself!"

"I never thought you were the type to go to such extremes. You should be living a peaceful life," Elsa said softly, almost as if she were afraid to upset her.

"Peaceful? If I were a peaceful girl, I wouldn't be friends with you," Chloe shot her a sideways glance.

"But seeing you like this, it hurts me," Elsa said gently.

Elsa was usually reserved, so this was the most emotional she'd ever been. Chloe felt a lump in her throat but managed a smile. "Now you know how much it hurt me when you kept hurting yourself after your mom passed away."

"That's different. Losing my mom was the most painful thing in my life," Elsa said, realizing her feelings for Luke weren't as intense.

"It's the same, Elsa. For someone like me, who hasn't faced many hardships, the pain of unrequited love is the worst," Chloe sighed.

Elsa thought about it and agreed. Their experiences were different. She had faced hardships since childhood, while Chloe had lived a life of luxury. She shouldn't judge Chloe by her standards.

"If you loved him so much, why'd you end it?" Elsa asked, feeling a pang of sympathy.

"Maybe it was just fate," Chloe sighed and began to recount her experience at the hospital the previous night.

"Do you think I'm obsessed with love, thinking every woman is a rival because I like Mr. King?" she asked Elsa, feeling defeated.

"No," Elsa shook her head. She had noticed the problem first and regretted not warning Chloe earlier.

"Do you think you can't compete with Giselle?" Elsa asked.

Running away wasn't Chloe's style, but in love, she was so humble that she might do something unexpected.

Chloe shook her head. "The competition is only part of it. The bigger reason is that I realized it's not worth the effort to fight for a man who doesn't love me."

"Mr. King sees me and Giselle the same way. We're just girls who admire him. Last night, I don't know what happened, but it was like I suddenly woke up from a trance and felt relieved."

Chloe smiled again. "I have Giselle to thank for helping me get over Mr. King so quickly. I thought I'd be entangled with a man who didn't love me for the rest of my life, but fate was kind and let me move on quickly. I should look forward and live my own life."

"Enlightenment happens in an instant. Congratulations," Elsa said, seeing that Chloe seemed genuinely happy. She had returned to being the cheerful, carefree Chloe, and Elsa was glad.

Her beautiful friend deserved a better life, not to be stuck with someone as problematic as Jonathan.

Chloe eventually got a colorful seashell tattoo on her arm, a design Elsa had chosen for her.

Jonathan found out about it a few days later on her short video platform. After learning she had an account, he couldn't resist downloading the app and spent several days watching her updates as a guest.

"My best friend says some people are like seashells. They seem peaceful on the outside, but if you listen closely, you can hear the sound of the waves," Chloe's caption read, accompanied by a picture of her delicate arm and the colorful seashell tattoo.
