Chapter 243 Do You Dare Take Elsa's Case?
Elsa made up her mind and transformed back into that invincible warrior.
She refused to just lie in bed. Even though she was still weak and the bandages on her head hadn't been removed, she began planning for her future.
"Can you help me find a place? I don't care about anything else, just make sure it's cheap," Elsa said to Chloe, and then she found Jonathan and asked him to recommend a reliable divorce lawyer.
"How much do you want? I know a lawyer who's pretty good at handling marital financial disputes. Maybe he can help you get half of Luke's assets." Jonathan had heard the whole story from Chloe and, thinking he knew Elsa's character, was clearly teasing her.
"I want to consult on how to return the properties Luke gave me," Elsa replied honestly.
"In such a situation, do you think he'll be happy if you don't take any money? On the contrary, if you take half of his assets, it might be easier for him to let go. If you take nothing, he'll likely be overwhelmed with guilt," Jonathan said.
"Taking something that doesn't belong to me feels like holding a hot potato," Elsa said stubbornly.
In the following days, Astrid Young frequently visited Elsa's hospital room with a briefcase in hand.
The office building Luke bought for Elsa had increased in value within six months, from less than $200 million to over $200 million. Adding the rent collected over these six months and the investments Elsa made with that rent, it totaled about $250 million.
"Mrs. Taylor, you really have a knack for financial management," Astrid said sincerely, sitting cautiously by the hospital bed after listening to Elsa explain her financial situation.
"Are you suggesting that some of this money should be given to Mr. Taylor?" Astrid, who had dealt with many couples fighting over assets, was a bit taken aback by someone wanting to give away a huge sum voluntarily.
"No, all of it. How can I transfer it to his name with the lowest fees or taxes?" This was beyond Elsa's knowledge, and she had no interest in learning it now, so she decided to let a lawyer handle it.
"I can come up with a plan, but it requires not only your signature but also Mr. Taylor's," Astrid said, guessing that the person sitting outside the room was Luke.
"You're the lawyer, so you handle it. If Luke signs, I'll double your consultation fee," Elsa handed over the task.
Luke had a face as cold as ice. Dressed in a custom-made suit, he sat expressionlessly on the bench outside the hospital room, exuding such a low pressure that anyone who glimpsed him would avoid him.
Astrid came out of Elsa's room and cautiously handed over the drafted plan as he remarked, "Mr. Taylor, Mrs. Taylor intends to return the office building she bought in your name as a gift. There's another plan that could theoretically save a lot of money: you could sue Ms. Miller in court to reclaim the gift. But Ms. Miller thinks that for a respectable family like the Taylors, the second option would be too disgraceful. Spending some money on fees is better than losing face."
"As for all the expenses during the marriage, Mrs. Taylor said you probably don't care about them, so she won't return those. After all, she still needs to live after the divorce," Astrid's voice grew weaker as he saw the murderous look in Luke's eyes.
"Which firm is Mr. Young with?" Luke didn't respond to his words but instead looked at the badge on his suit and asked.
His voice was cold and flat, making Astrid nervous.
"Apex Legal Solutions." Astrid replied.
"Alright, go back and tell your boss that if he dares to take Elsa's case, your firm might as well shut down," Luke's voice carried the anger and authority of someone in power, leaving no room for resistance.
