Chapter 237 Help!

Elsa stayed in the hospital for another three days.

During these three days, Jonathan, Eric, and Chloe came to visit, which was expected.

What she didn't expect was that Margaret also came.

Margaret brought some things, sat by the bed with a guilty look on her face, and apologized to Elsa.

"It's all my fault for causing you such trouble. I promise it won't happen again." Margaret said, looking at Elsa on the bed, and then started to cry again. She continued, "I've brought distress upon you and Luke. If anything happens to the baby because of me, I don't want to live anymore!"

Her acting was so good that Elsa was momentarily confused, wondering if Margaret was really admitting her mistake.

Luke remarked curtly, "She isn't in good health and can't be disturbed for too long. You should go back. You can talk another day."

It was Luke who intercepted Margaret's words and politely sent her out.

When he returned, Elsa was leaning against the headboard, looking at him thoughtfully.

"She was crying too much," Luke instinctively explained his actions. He held Elsa's hand and promised repeatedly, "I'll definitely have less contact with her in the future."

The matter was finally put to rest.

Time flew by, and soon the baby in her belly took shape. At 15 weeks pregnant, it was time for Elsa's prenatal checkup.

Luke didn't go to work and personally drove Elsa to BrightCare Maternal and Child Hospital.

After drawing blood, they sat in the lobby waiting for the results.

A phone call came in, and Luke put it on speaker. It was Margaret's anxious voice, "Luke, my dad, my dad is dying!"

It was very noisy on the other end, with heart-wrenching cries in the background.

"I'll go first. Call the driver to pick you up and take you home." Luke hung up the phone, stood up anxiously, and paced with a sorrowful expression.

Elsa nodded silently, then thought for a moment, "I'll take a cab home, don't worry."

At the brink of Joe's life and death, no matter how big the grudge, she shouldn't stop Luke from going.

Luke reached out and hugged her tightly, remarking, "Thank you, baby."

Elsa didn't respond. She thought of Leslie's suicide back in China, and how neither she nor Vincent got to see her one last time, and her mood became particularly heavy.

Luke hurriedly left.

Elsa picked up the prenatal checkup results alone, and after hearing that the baby was fine, she went out to hail a cab.

Elsa walked out of the hospital and saw a taxi parked at the main entrance. The driver was on a call using a Bluetooth headset. When he saw Elsa approaching, a calculating look flashed in his eyes, and he whispered something before ending the call.

"Are we heading to Crystal Valley Estates?" Elsa asked.

"Get in," the driver said gruffly. After Elsa got in, he sped off.

This wasn't the familiar route.

"Do you not know the way?" Elsa asked. 'I can set up a GPS for you." The driver just kept driving silently.

It was just past the morning rush hour, and there weren't many cars on the road. The driver was speeding at over 100 miles per hour.

Elsa sensed something was wrong. She reached for the door handle beside her, but it was locked!

In broad daylight, what was he trying to do?

"You're going the wrong way," she nervously reminded him, but the driver remained silent.

Elsa put her phone on silent mode and tried to video call Luke, but he didn't answer. She tried once more, only for Luke hung up the call.

He replied with a message: [Busy, contact Max if you need anything.]

[Help!] Elsa sent a message, but there was no reply.

Her heart sank, and she dialed 911.

Just as the call connected, the driver pulled over, turned around, and snatched her phone away!
