Chapter 57 Overthinking
At 2 AM, ECHO Club.
Luke, with a dark expression on his face, drank one glass after another. Terry and Karida exchanged glances. Karida spoke up, "So, did you leave the two women at home and come out by yourself?"
"Yes."
"I think if you left, Elsa might bully Margaret, since she has a bad temper." Terry had strong opinions about Elsa.
"No." Luke shook his head.
"Elsa wanted to give the master bedroom to Margaret today. Judging by her attitude, she might even want me out," Terry added.
"What is that woman thinking?" Karida became more interested. "She went to great lengths to win you over."
Luke's expression darkened even more. 'I have had no idea what she's thinking! If she was jealous of Margaret and wanted to bully Margaret, I could handle it. But her current attitude makes me feel like I would be demeaning myself if I tried to appease her.'
"Maybe she heard some news." Terry poured himself a drink and mentioned Chloe coming to see him.
"You once spent thirty million to buy royal jewelry to make Margaret smile, but I didn't expect that today." Karida couldn't help but gloat. Elsa must have firmly believed that Margaret was Luke's true love for life. She really didn't understand how important she was to Luke.
"When Margaret was getting married, I gave her the bracelet as a wedding gift." Luke felt a bit uncertain.
"You must have had feelings for Margaret back then," Terry countered.
At that time, Margaret was not just Luke's first love, she was also special to Terry.
Back then, when Margaret had gotten married, Luke had been depressed for a long time, and so was Terry. However, Terry's emotions had been too well hidden, deceiving everyone, including Luke.
Luke fell into silence.
He did have feelings for Margaret in the past, but now he never entertained any other thoughts about her, especially after marrying Elsa.
He could handle Elsa if she felt insecure, jealous, or even threw tantrums. "But she's pushing me toward Margaret, what does that mean?" Luke muttered.
Elsa watched Luke slam the door and thought he was going to see Margaret.
She felt a bit lost and tried to ignore the feeling. She took a shower as usual, dried her hair, and wrapped herself in a blanket.
If she had known this would happen, she wouldn't have given up the house over there. At this rate, her marriage wouldn't last long either.
Lost in her thoughts, Elsa tossed and turned in the blanket and barely slept all night, resulting in dark circles under her eyes when she came downstairs in the morning.
Luke and Margaret were happily having breakfast at the table, but when she approached, they suddenly fell silent and looked at her.
"I'll grab a cup of coffee and leave you two to it," Elsa hurriedly spoke as she smiled awkwardly.
"Madam, I made bird's nest for you. Please have some," Lisa said gently as she quickly approached Elsa and served her coffee.
Although Elsa was usually reserved and didn't speak a lot, she was always very polite to Lisa. Lisa treated her like her own child and genuinely liked her.
Elsa was about to decline when she saw Margaret warmly pulling out a chair beside her.
"Come, Miss Miller. I didn't have dinner yesterday, so I didn't let Luke wait for you. I hope you don't mind?" She referred to Luke as brother, which surprised Elsa, as the records showed she wasn't younger than Luke.
No wonder straight men liked Margaret. She was charming.
"Madam, please have some," Lisa served her the bird's nest
Elsa had no choice but to sit down next to Margaret.
Luke deliberately hadn't waited for Elsa and had stopped talking when she approached to see her reaction, but she remained calm throughout.
He quietly picked up a piece of barbecue pork and put it on Margaret's plate, saying, "Margaret, you're too thin, you should eat more."
