Chapter 361 Returning the Favor
Elsa could be said to have fled in a panic.
She didn't own a car herself; the small car that Luke looked down upon was still factory property. On her way to the hospital to see Jonny, she rolled down the window halfway, letting the cool autumn breeze in to dispel the heat from her face.
To outsiders and even to Luke himself, it seemed like Luke was the one pursuing her relentlessly, while Elsa had already moved on and had her own life. Only Elsa knew that even after all this time apart, she still felt a tremor in her heart at his every move.
His shoulder must have hurt a lot from that heavy blow.
What Jasmine said was also true; she had indeed used some extreme measures to get into his bed. Luke was standing right there at the time, and who knows what he thought when he heard that.
She had even righteously lectured Jasmine, saying she was disgracing the Taylor family. What did the Taylor family's reputation have to do with her? Besides, she herself hadn't drugged Luke; how clever could her methods have been?
The more Elsa thought about it, the hotter her face became. Even when she reached the hospital, the temperature hadn't gone down.
Fortunately, Jasmine had only used the kind of recreational drugs that young people could buy at nightclubs, which weren't very harmful. Jonny looked more serious because the dosage was quite high, but he was out of danger shortly after being taken to the hospital.
Hearing this news, Elsa actually breathed a sigh of relief. Even she didn't know if it was for Jonny or for the Taylor family.
Of course, Jonny would pursue the matter. Jasmine had done something wrong and should pay the price. But the severity of the situation would naturally be different depending on whether Jonny had health issues or not, making it easier for the Taylor family to negotiate and appease him.
"What are you planning to do?" Elsa asked, looking at the now-conscious Jonny on the bed.
"Nothing. I'm a grown man. Even if Jasmine had raped me, would I cry about it?" Jonny said calmly, looking down at the bedsheet. "I knew Jasmine had drugged my drink; I just didn't expose her."
"What!" Elsa was shocked, but only for a second or two before she regained her composure.
"Do you need something from the Taylor family?" Jonny had only taken over the Jones family a little over a year ago, so it was unlikely he would do something just to harm the Taylor family without benefiting himself. Needing something from the Taylor family was the only possibility Elsa could think of.
"Elsa, your intelligence scares me," Jonny said, surprised by her insight.
"What do you want? Why not tell me? If you're negotiating with the Taylor family, you'll need a middleman anyway."
Elsa didn't want to get involved in the matters between the Taylor family and the Jones family at all, but she knew that Jonny had likely used his remaining rationality to have her save him, precisely because he wanted her to get involved.
She guessed right.
Seeing her eyes that seemed to see through everything, Jonny suddenly felt a bit ashamed.
He lowered his head even more. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have used you without telling you."
Especially given her and Luke's current awkward relationship.
"There's nothing to be sorry about," Elsa said with a relieved smile.
"If it were anyone else, I would get up and leave right now. But you're different, Jonny. You took care of me for so long abroad, and after returning, you helped me take down the Miller family. You even let me use the company's seal. How could I not be willing to return the favor and be your spokesperson?"
